Geekery and Sound Clips

This animation really stirred up some warm, fuzzy feelings. Dr. Demento, Monty Python, Harry Potter, Lemmings, The X-Files…it’s so nice to know I’m not alone.

Niel Cicierega certainly has become famous here in Internetland. I had no idea he was the creator of the first Animutation, let alone the author of “The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny”. Of course, I’ll always love him for Potter Puppet Pals.

I managed to snag a few sound clips from The Time Warp of Dr. Brain using TotalRecorder. Not as convenient as extracting clips from the game’s resource file with GAP, but since this game’s resource files aren’t accessible and the GAP project has been discontinued, it looks like this will have to do.

These are a few random statements the good doctor makes when you click on the speaker on the game’s toolbar:

(I’m positive this is a Monty Python reference, though I haven’t seen the actual skit yet)

One of those sentences that is hilarious when taken out of context.

I thought this was very funny…when I was twelve, that is (of course, I still find it amusing now).

Sheesh, I thought this was a kid’s game!

I don’t know what more could be said about this.

Anyone besides me think that the writer was having a little bit too much fun writing his own lines?

It’s random. It’s funny. Enjoy.

A line that all forum moderators on some of the wilder message boards could quote (Lilymud springs to mind).

The following is dialogue from specific regions of the game:

An interesting observation at the beginning of the Spelunking region (that sound is the fish crawling up to the water’s edge)

One of his responses when you don’t get the lungfish to an air source in time (the sound at the beginning is the fish running out of breath)

Another response from the same occurrence (as you’re restarting the puzzle).

What you might hear after you fail to correctly assemble a space station in one of the regions (a little overdramatic, are we?)

One of the comments you get when you check your score before actually solving any puzzles.

And after solving a few dozen puzzles, if you try checking your score then…

And here’s that fan art I forecast.
