Housemate hunting hell...
Ok, so just to vent for five minutes, while it appears that one can find anything from sex to computer parts to dance partners on Craig's List, the one thing I cannot seem to find on there right now is a roommate. And I need one, badly-- I am paying the entire rent by myself right now, and as a result my bank account has a negative balance until I get paid on Wednesday. I cannot even afford to do the laundry right now because I need to hoard my precious quarters.
I posted an ad this past week-- at least the sixth or seventh time I have done so now-- and got eight responses. Emailed them back, asked them to come by Saturday afternoon. Got two responses saying they couldn't make it, fine. Cleaned the house up very nicely and sat down to wait.
Nobody showed up.
Sorry, excuse me, one guy showed up, but he was someone I already knew from myspace and it wasn't the room he was interested in. But that's another story.
Nobody wants to live with me!! *sigh*
It's partially my own damn fault-- I procrastinated a lot on this, have been erratic in my efforts, probably because deep down I would rather not live with anyone else at all. But I have posted ads, responded to people's emails, made appointments... and sometimes they don't show up, sometimes they do but tell me they wanted something "more central," usually we trade a couple of emails and they ask questions like "Is it ok if I have three rabbits in my room?" (Uh, no, sorry.) Or- "are there a lot of stairs? I can't climb stairs." (yes, there are a lot of stairs)
A friend has offered to hook me up with a friend of his, and I am holding out some hope that this will be the big breakthrough that will allow me to pay my rent next month. But for the moment, things are not looking good, dammit.
