I went downtown tonight
and only recognized one man
He was the owner of my future
or at least my future plan
He looked at me, looked away, and glanced back
recognizing me in-between,
he told me things would never be the same
and I finally understood and agreed

I went downtown tonight
and I saw two young people in love
They talked and laughed over simple things
things I've never had the privilege of
Or maybe they've just never had the privilege
of being in the world of complex things
Maybe they wish for complexity
when I wish for simplicity

I left downtown tonight
and didn't know but one man
I saw two people in love
and I didn't understand
And then it all stood still
and I began to see the view
When the world moves on so fast
its time for me to move on too.
