Nerdfest
What a weekend. UPenn MUN conference was an...interesting first experience. Left for Dallas on wednesday after classes, as we had an early morning flight to Philadelphia. We had a team dinner at "Gay Bennigans" in Dallas. (I don't know why it's gay, but apparently dinner there is team tradition ) Got up early, hopped our flight, and got to Philly in one piece. The conference reminded me how frustrated I get working to negotiate with people who don't necessarily have the same goals in mind. Managed to do pretty well, and received an award in my committee - not bad for my first real conference. The other girl on my team in my committee, Rose, was a big help, even though I was representing Mauritania (random W. African country), while she was representing Australia. Baylor won best small delegation, beating out Harvard for the second year in a row. Hah.
Extracurricular activities were to be found in Philly as well, what with getting the hook-up with a wristband at Delegatefest (the conference rents out a club for a night), and my committee chair advocating his frat's jello-shot latenight. One of my NSLC friends, A.K., goes to UPenn, and I got to hang out with him while cruising campus. I also dragged Angela with me and we ended up at the jello-shot party where made sure to find and say hi to my chair (yes, I was pushing for some extra points in committee ). We rolled back in around 4:30ish, but it was worth it, and everyone else in committee the next morning was also half-asleep or hung over, if they came at all. Heh. I think MUN is growing on me.
I'm behind on class stuff, though, and I'm kind of at a burnout point where I really don't care. I'll do my best, but as long as I pass, I'll be fine. Kat's wedding this weekend! I still have to find an outfit for rodeo reception....Cavender's Boot City, here I come!
