Thanks to something
mystofthestars told me the other day, I've been reflecting about the "same soul, different past" thing in TRC.
Let's start with the CLAMP theory. They have shown us multiple versions of the same characters- I'll use Touya and Yukito as an example, since they are so cute <3. Well, we've seen Clow!Touya&Yukito, and it was obvious that they were together. We've seen Hanshin!Touya&Yukito, and no-one can deny they had a relationship there too. All of this leads me to the thought that they are soulmates- which means that in every world there are a Touya and a Yukito, and that if they ever meet they'll fall in love, right? Riiiight.
Well, what about Kurogane and Fay? Kurogane is from Nihon. If Fay is really Kurogane's soulmate (and we all know he is <3), then that means that Nihon!Fay is, not Valeria!Fay. This leads me to think that there is a Fay somewhere in Nihon, waiting for his love- who will never come, because there's already a Fay with him. The same goes for Fay, only Valeria!Kurogane is dead (everyone from Valeria is, I believe).
All of this means: Fay and Kurogane shouldn't be together, because they aren't each other's soulmates- they are another version of each other's soulmates.
Plus, everything I said above also goes for Sakura and Shaoran, apparently, because Shaoran comes from CCS!Japan and Sakura comes from Clow. Of course, I could be wrong, because right now I don't get just who the f*ck is the Shaoran whose memories we're seeing. (Speaking of this, does Shaoran love his mother? o_o)
There are two possibly conclusions:
1. The soulmate thing is only applicable to those who don't know about interdimensional traveling.
2. CLAMP have smoked too much Clow Cards, and are currently contradicting themselves.
