these power outages are getting old

for one huge reason. Everything i have as power outage backups keeps failing me miserably. All my hand crank devices have totally dead rechargable batteries in them so will not hold a charge. the shake flashlight broke a wire. The generator has no gas. the cord for charging my storm station is dead. I cannot find my box of batteries. Yeah getting

Hehe- that's why the term "preppers" is replacing "survivalists" in some circles. With equally dubious crackpots whatever term is used of course. I'm reminded of the directors admonitions to Terry Stamp for playing Zod in the superman movie..

NOTHING unwanted happens to Zod.

And yeah- it's bordering on /well into the realms of cliche to be avoided like the plague.

Still and all? It's the continual Hot Test of suchlike on a random alternated with scheduled basis that determines yes- survival or just that silly grin of priceless joy when we do spike Murphy.

/me looks over shoulder at comforting red fireflies of two find-in-the-dark lights and the equally comforting bluish LED halos of battery nightlight/flashlights in two other outlets. Genset's currently down to manual transfer plug conn- EU2000 clone with propane trifuel plus city gas and the cable from my maybe 3kw usable welder as backup to that. And the ubiquity of dollar store lithium keychain lights as zipper pulls on coats/laptop bags etc.

if your ONE bugout makes you a crack pot then my Three of them makes me an utter lunatic.

I hate to sound like a Hipster but i have been doing this Survivalist thing (now prepper) since i was a kid including planting edible plants in the woods around me and learning other edible medicinal and such herbs when i was younger. I live more in a City (to me) now and do not have the joy of woods around me to rely on.

even though without the batteries and such i still have a Large amount of candles for various purposes and wax stove units and alcohol stoves and a camp stove and propane stuff and stored water and tents and survival equipstuff and Solar charged lights and some other stuff around so i was not helpless. it just sucked that some of the stuff i was counting on for long term stuff was all FUCK YOU BOY! Just tells me i am not as prepped as i had hoped i was. Still though i am pretty damn good on food. though the other day when it was near a hundred hereabouts i did NOT want to cook in any way shape or form since i am already sick in the heat. Also with the power out city wide and some of my stuff in disarray i did not have ice blocks for the meat and such if needed. but i will be fixing that too.
