~Chapter 8 Losing People Dear to You~
Part 2

Part 1
Hikaru immediately headed back to the hospital after attending Nakajima’s and Yabu’s former lover funeral. Yabu told that her family did not mind if she was buried in that town. Not long after, Daiki and Ha-chan came to see Chihara.

“Hi… Chihara-chan.” Daiki greeted. He and Ha-chan wore full black clothes as a sign they also just came from Nakajima’s funeral.

“Hi!” Chihara weakly replied. She was still sad because of Nakajima’s sudden death. Moreover, she could not attend the funeral. Hikaru and her doctor forbade her to go out from the hospital. She had begged Hikaru to let her to say last good bye to Nakajima but her mother still persistent.

“Oh… Chihara-chan… c’mon… don’t put a sad face like that.” Ha-chan tried to comfort her best friend. She understood the reason behind the sulked look on her best friend’s face.

“But… I didn’t…”

Ha-chan walked and sat beside Chihara. “Don’t worry… We’ve prayed him. I’m sure Naka-sen’ll be okay now.”

“Ha-chan’s right, Chihara-chan.” Daiki added. “Although you can’t attend the funeral, you still can pray for him from here. Then… after you’re allowed to leave, you can go to his grave and pray again.” He soothingly said.

Chihara slowly smiled. What Ha-chan and Daiki said was right after all. She could pray for Nakajima wherever she was. “Thank you.”

“Ii yo, Chihara-chan!” Daiki said and ruffled her hair, making Chihara blushed.

Ha-chan simply smiled looking at her best friend and Daiki, her cousin, whom always she considered as her big brother.

Hikaru sighed in relief, seeing Daiki and Ha-chan comforted her daughter. She then looked outside and found Yabu was sitting all alone. And he did not look good.

“Dai-chan, Ha-chan!” Hikaru called.

Daiki and Ha-chan turned to Hikaru. “Yes?”

“Can you stay here a little longer? I need to go awhile.” Hikaru asked.

Daiki and Ha-chan looked at each other awhile before nodding their heads.

“Sure, Hikaru oba-chan!” They both said in unison.

Hikaru smiled and walked out to where Yabu was at now. She believed Yabu needed someone to talk to after what happened. He just lost his best friend and lover at once.

*****

Yabu was sitting on the bench at the hospital park. He looked so sad; there was barely a sign of a passion for living. He just attended Nakajima and his ex lover’s funeral this morning. Even though it was not the first time he attended a funeral, but it still gave an uneasy feeling for him.

“You won’t go anywhere, Kou-chan.” She warned. “Besides… it’s already late. She’s not breathing now.”

Yabu stood so speechless a minute then turned his back again. He had to go whatever the cost. He should go to where Hikaru was at now. He had to protect her. He could not maintain to lose her from his life again without doing anything to fight back. She was really important to him. He stepped his feet and started running.

“KOU!!!” The woman shouted, warning him while always ready to pull the trigger.

DOR!

Another shot could be heard and Yabu fell down. The last things came to his mind were Hikaru and Chihara.

“I won’t go anywhere.”

“I won’t leave you and Chihara.”

“I’m not leaving this town. I’ll stay here.”

“I’m going to live here. I love this town… mainly because you and your beautiful okaa-san live here.”

------

“You have to go now.” Hikaru reminded half-heartedly.

Yabu did not bother to let his arms around Hikaru go. He even tightened them. He really wanted to take her too.

“You’ll just make it harder, Yabu-kun.” Hikaru persuaded.

“Hika… don’t call my surname.” Yabu reminded.

“I won’t if you let me go.” Hikaru bargained. She honestly did not want Yabu to let her go, but she knew she could not be egoist. It was for his future after all.

Yabu sighed and released his arms.

“I love you… Kouta…” Hikaru uttered, staring right into his eyes.

“I love you… Hikaru… Wait for me… nee...” Yabu stretched his pinkie.

Hikaru nodded and hooked her pinkie to Yabu. “I’ll wait…”

Yabu then kissed Hikaru’s forehead so lovingly yet sadly and entered the train.

------

Yabu thought he was shot but not. The bullet just grazed his arm. He quickly averted his eyes and saw the woman fell down. Fresh blood moved out from her chest. He gasped. “Yama-chan!” He cried out.

“I’m sorry… Ryou-chan…”

Yabu directed his eyes to the voice. He saw there was a man standing held a gun on his hand. “Yuuto…???” He mumbled in surprise.

“Yuu…to… why… you…” The woman a.k.a Yamada Ryou puzzled asking.

“I’m sorry… Ryou-chan… I can’t kill her…” Nakajima replied with shaky voice.

“You… are… coward…” She mocked him.

“I love you… Ryou-chan… dakara…”

Then a loud siren was nearing their place. Apparently, police found them.

“You… called… police?” Yamada asked unbelieving.

“I have to stop your madness, Ryou-chan!” Nakajima firmly stated.

Yamada smirked. “My madness? Don’t fooling around!” She shouted and rose up her gun, directing it to Nakajima who did the same.

“Don’t move!!!” Policemen came in holding gun on their hands. “Put down your guns!” One of them ordered and the other one dragged Yabu to their side.

Yamada simply smiled to the policemen.

“This place’s surrounded. Just give up and put down your guns!” The man who seemed to be the captain ordered again.

Yamada averted her gaze and looked deeply in Nakajima’s eyes, still holding the gun and ready for pulled the trigger.  She did not see any fear on them.  “If only we met in different way and time… we would not end up like this, Yuuto.” She thought to herself. “Let’s end this.”

Nakajima did not look to elsewhere ever since the police came. He kept watching Yamada with one finger on the trigger. “Ryou-chan… perhaps… we just met in a wrong time, didn’t we? If I found you earlier you would not be so sad and miserable because of him nee? I know it’s cruel but…” Nakajima could not continue his thought anymore.

“Bye… bye…” Yamada and Nakajima muttered in chorus then pulled the trigger.

DOR! DOR!

“NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Yabu cried out on top of his lungs.

Nakajima then fell down on the floor.

Yabu in rush ran towards Nakajima, hoping he still could do something for his dearest best friend. “Yuuto… hang on…”

Nakajima smiled but said nothing. He then reached his pocket and pulled out a letter then handed it to Yabu.

“Yuuto???”

Then… Nakajima closed his eyes.

Yabu felt tears rolled down to his cheeks, recalling what just happened. He pulled out a letter Nakajima gave him before he closed his eyes.

Dear, Kouta

Kouta… I’m sorry. I’ve betrayed you.

I am the one who told your being to Ryou-chan. She’s so miserable when I met her for the very first time. She told me that she lost her lover. I felt sorry for her and then that feeling turn to be love in a very short time. And suddenly… you came to this town. I was so surprised when she sent me your autograph. She said he was her lost lover. At first I confused whether I should tell her or not but I decided not to. Moreover, you also said you don’t want to meet her.  Truthfully, I’m happy to hear that. It’s my opportunity to make her forget her love for you and learn to love me.

One day I coincidentally saw you walked with Yaotome-san and Chihara-chan. I was curious with the happiness drawn on your face, hence, I followed you. As I was following you, I closely watched you. From the way you looked at Yaotome-san, I thought you actually love her. Frankly speaking, I was surprised as you looked so comfortable walked with her and Chihara-chan. It’s like it was not your first time to interact with Yaotome-san. You looked like you’ve known her for a long time although you just met her here. But then, well… love has a secret that hardly to describe, doesn’t it? Love can still slide its magic to your heart no matter how long or short you meet and know someone. As second passed, something got in my mind. If you really fall in love with Yaotome-san, it’ll be a good reason for Ryou-chan to forget and leave you. Therefore, I told her you’ve got another person to love, namely Yaotome-san and gave her some pictures of both of you. I’m sorry for being like a stalker. I just needed evidences.

I thought when she found out, she would give up and in the end I got it wrong. She did not want to listen and care. She still wants you. She said Yaotome-san was not deserved for you. And it hurts me, Kou… really…. I don’t understand why she still wants you although I’ve told her that I love her and the fact you don’t love her any more. She really ignored my feelings… Kouta… She just sees and looks for you…

What’s actually on you that I don’t have? Can’t she understand that you don’t love her anymore? I think the picture when you kissed Yaotome-san is strong evidence that you love her more than Ryou-chan. I can tell the big love you have for her. To complete it I also witnessed how worry yourself were when you saw Yaotome-san got hurt and cried. You behaved in unusual way, Kouta. You lost your cool.

When you told me about her, I didn’t fully trust you, Kou… It’s impossible if someone like Ryou-chan could do things like what you said…Well… love is blind… But in the end, you’re right Kouta… she’s terrible. She told me that she’s the person who grazed Yaotome-san the other day. And then after I told her about your plan for leaving, she’s mad and shot Chihara-chan. I really don’t expect she could do such terrible thing to Chihara-chan. Chihara-chan never did anything bad to her. Really… Kouta… I don’t know about it… If I had known I would have stopped her… Kouta… Believe me! I don’t want Chihara-chan gets hurt in the first place! I love that kid! And although she said her aim was Yaotome-san, I can see she actually did not care who was being shot. It’s really unbelievable… Kouta…

And the worst is she also asked me to shoot Yaotome-san. She said that’s the way to prove my love for her. I get really confused. It’s true I love her and will do anything for her…. But… her request is to kill someone… someone that my best friend loves… I really don’t know what to do Kouta… I love Ryou-chan…I want her to be happy… but I also love you… I don’t want to hurt someone dear to my friend as well. Besides, Yaotome-san is a kind person… I don’t have any heart to hurt her…

So… I made up my mind… the best thing I have to do is stop Ryou-chan’s madness over you rather than kill Yaotome-san. I guess there’s no guarantee she won’t do the same thing in the future…Besides… Chihara-chan will be all alone if I kill Yaotome-san… Kouta… I don’t want to make her lost her mother… she already lost her father…

I have to stop Ryou-chan… no matter what… then… I’ll always be with her…

I know you and Yaotome-san won’t forgive me and Ryou-chan… but… I’ll keep saying it, Kouta… ‘I’m sorry.’

Good bye…

Nakajima Yuuto.

P.S. Kouta… Say my apology to Yaotome-san and Chihara-chan, and take a good care of them… I know you love those two. I can see and feel it, Kouta… And somewhat… I can sense that Yaotome-san also feels the same way… The three of you have to be happy after all of this. Promise me.

Do you still remember our talk the other day?

Yabu folded the letter and wiped his tears. “Yuuto no baka...”  He sadly muttered, only audible to his ears. He could not understand why Nakajima had to go that far.

“Yabu-kun.”

Behind the Story:

First... I'm sorry for the late update... I'm working on my thesis.... so... I don't know when the next chapter will be out.... I'm super duper sorry....
Oohh… well… I can’t believe I can make this kind of story! I ruined my happy top 5 family!!!! Ryou-chan…. Gomen made you such terrible then killed you >.< I just don’t want to put Inoo, Takaki, Chinen or Ryuutarou between Yabu and Hikaru.

Yuuto!!!!! Hontou ni gomen nasai!!!! I killed someone kind like you….. >.< It’s the first time I paired Yamada and Nakajima in romantic way… but in the end I killed both of them… I’m really cruel and heartless… da yo ne… If you still remember… I ever said that I had a tendency to write a sad tragic love story, didn’t I? So… it might be the result of that obsession…

Frankly speaking… I wanted to make Yuuto actually a bad person too at first. He even tried to kill Yabu or something like that… xPPP… But in the end I changed it… or… it simply I can’t do it. I love Yuuto… besides… I’m still lack of vocabularies related to fighting scenes…. I don’t come from an English speaking country….

To stevenica  and Hara-chan (blozzom_zone ) I know you love YamaJima pairing too… and I’m really sorry for making them in that cruel way just to make an unexpected fact!!!! Hontou ni gomen nasai…. Don’t kill or hate me because of it…. ONEGAI SHIMASU!!!!

And I’m ready for your ‘unpleasant/disappointment’…. For this chapter… Just let them out…
