Part 2

Part 1

The driver opened the door for Yabu and Yabu gently put Hikaru down then sat beside her. After Yabu told the driver their destination, no one of them said anything during the little trip. Hikaru simply looked at the window meanwhile Yabu looked at the front. The taxi then stopped in nearest drug store. Yabu then got off and made his way to the store. In a minute he came back, got on the taxi and handed the medicine to Hikaru. He slowly told Hikaru how to use and the dosage.

After they arrived, Yabu asked the driver to wait him outside and the nice driver nodded, smiling. The sensei carried Hikaru to enter her house and took her to her room. Hikaru said nothing while Yabu carried her from the taxi until he gently laid her down on the bed.

“Just take a rest now…” Yabu said, covering Hikaru by a blanket. “You’re still shock, aren’t you?”

“Thanks for today.” Hikaru said and shyly smiled at Yabu.

Yabu smiled back and stroked Hikaru’s hair ever so lovingly while staring into her dark eyes. A pair of orbs that enchanted him to a feeling named love. He then leaned down and softly kissed her lips while keeping her hand to stroke her hair. To surprise him, this time, Hikaru reacted. She kissed him back, making him so happy and sad at once. On his mind, he considered the kiss was their last because he did not want put her on danger. But… the shyly way Hikaru gave him shut all of his wits. He gradually got on the bed while deepening the kiss and his hand moved down to Hikaru’s cheek, tracing the outline. He seemed to forget about the driver and his own plan as he heard Hikaru’s heavy breaths and continued kissing her.

“Yabu-kun! Yabu-kun!”

Yabu felt someone was shaking and called him. He turned to his side and found Hikaru was staring at him in confusion.

“Hi-Hika??” Yabu asked in bewilderment too as he looked around. He was still inside the taxi.

“We’ve arrived. And I’ve called you for many times for last three minutes until I have to shake you. Where has your mind wondered?” Hikaru explained and complained a little because Yabu seemed not in the world.

Yabu faintly smiled while ruffling his own hair. “So… I just daydreamed about that? About Hikaru and I kissed on the bed passionately??? About she return my love???”

“Yabu-kun!!!”

Yabu heard Hikaru shouted again.

“Yes?” He dumfounded asked.

Hikaru sighed, knowing Yabu did not hear what she just said. “Thanks for today. I feel better now. You’ve really been a good doctor.” She said before opened the door and stepped out.

“Hika…” Yabu worriedly muttered as Hikaru stood up then closed the door. He quickly got up and out of the taxi, approaching her.

“Don’t worry. It’s not so pain anymore. Thanks for your nursery.” Hikaru bowed don a bit then smiled at Yabu.

Yabu slowly smiled back after stunning by Hikaru’s smile. “My pleasure. Hikaru-chan.” He said while caressing her hair.

Hikaru simply went silent by the affection Yabu gave for her. She could not deny she was happy because of that. Because Yabu was stood before her again, treating her so tenderly. She looked into his shining eyes and got captured into them. Into the pair of eyes which she longed for.

Yabu then slowly pulled Hikaru to his arms. He could not stand anymore for just standing before her without doing anything else.

Hikaru’s cheeks turned into clearly pink in an instant as she felt the warmth spreading from Yabu. She slowly wrapped her own arms on Yabu’s back and got relax resting her head on Yabu’s chest.

Yabu’s heart beats began faster as he realized Hikaru returned his embracement. He tightened his arms around Hikaru’s back and buried her face onto Hikaru’s soft lock. He missed her scent… It was the very first time he could smelt the fragrance after 6 years… and Hikaru still used the same fragrance, making all the memories played back in his mind even more.  He only needed one thing in this world and it was simply living here with Hikaru and Chihara, making a happy family. But he knew he could not do it. His former lover had come and she surely never let his dream to be with Hikaru come true. The fact made him felt so sad because he knew Hikaru had opened her heart for him a little now… He confused whether he felt happier or sadder because of their love.

“Yabu-kun… you have to go back now…” Hikaru softly mumbled after few minutes they only hugged, feeling each other heart beats.

Yabu slowly released his arms around Hikaru. “Ah… you’re right. I almost forget the time.” He said, ruffling his own hair.

Hikaru chuckled. “You always like that… Yabu-kun.”

Yabu smiled happily hearing the chuckle that used to be escorting him on the old days. “Ja, I’ll go now!” He said as he playfully ruffled Hikaru’s hair, messing it.

Hikaru nodded and smiled while fixing her hair. “Umn..”

“Hika… You have to be more careful from now onwards.” Yabu said and firmly hold Hikaru’s hand on his.

Once again, Hikaru looked the over worried face of Yabu. She really wanted to know what was hidden behind it but she knew how stubborn a Yabu Kouta was. She should slowly approach him to get to know his secret. Therefore, she simply gave the older man a sign she would do his advice.

Yabu then turned his back but he felt Hikaru pulled his hand. He turned around to see Hikaru whether she wanted to say something.

“Doushite… Hika?” Yabu asked.

Hikaru slightly shook her head side to side. “Ii yo… Just… take care.” She shyly said then tiptoed and gave Yabu a light kiss on his cheek.

Yabu could only widen his eyes by the sudden shy kiss on his cheek.

Hikaru quickly turned Yabu around. “Ikou now… you’ve made the driver waits too long.” She spoke and lightly pushed his back to where the taxi was waiting. She did not want Yabu to look how red her face now.

Yabu slowly stepped away from Hikaru and took a glance over her. He smiled as he found the slight pink blush on her face. After opening the door, Yabu waved his hand to Hikaru and she happily waved her hand as well, saying ‘Bye bye and take care.’

Hikaru waited until the driver turned around the car to take Yabu back to the kindergarten.

Yabu kept looking and smiling at Hikaru until he could not see her glimpse. “You have to be more careful… Hikaru… onegai…” He muttered softly. “Sayonara…”

“Okay… what’s with your worried face just now?” Nakajima said when he saw Yabu had come from Hikaru’s house with a not-so-happy expression. In Nakajima’s eyes, Yabu was still worrying something.

“Yuuto?”

“I think you didn’t tell me you and Yaotome-san is friends.” Nakajima pouted.

“Ah…”

“Is it her?” Nakajima straightforwardly asked.

Yabu looked away. “What do you mean?”

“Your beloved junior.” Nakajima snapped and rolled his eyes, knowing Yabu surely knew what he was talking about.

Yabu weakly nodded.

“So, why do you put on a sad face? You better put a happy one because you meet her again. And it’s surely good timing to take her back. You still love her, don’t you? Or you just got rejected” Nakajima a bit questioned the less excitement on his friend’s face.

Yabu simply sighed and shook his head. “Because I love her… I can’t be with her.” Yabu mumbled, surprising Nakajima.

“HUH?”

Yabu pushed Nakajima lightly. “You have to go now… the children wait you…”

“But…” Nakajima protested. Yabu made him worried.

“I’m okay.” Yabu reassured Nakajima to leave him alone. “We can talk about it when school’s over.”

****

“So… that’s what happened.” Nakajima mumbled after Yabu finished his story.

“Yeah…” Yabu muttered tiredly and weakly. He clearly looked so in trouble.

“What’re you planning to do now?” Nakajima carefully asked, after knowing Yabu’s problem was.

“I have to leave this town.” Yabu sadly stated. “Per-…” he could not continue as they heard a loud voice from the door. They looked at the door and widened their eyes seeing the figure whom already stood there, leaning back against the door for support. They had no knowledge how long she was there, hearing their conversation.

The surprising figure could not stop the freely flowing tears from her eyes, staring at the two men in front of her. She quickly turned around and ran away when she saw Yabu was about to speak something.

Yabu in an instant stood up and followed her steps in a very fast pace. Nakajima even thought Yabu could be a very good sprinter.

“HIKARUUU!!!” Yabu called the running figure. He did not expect Hikaru would come to the kindergarten for the second time that day. He already said that he would send Chihara home for her. Besides, seeing she ran made Yabu got worrier because he knew Hikaru was still hold pain on her leg although it was not a serious one. But still… it made her hurt and him as well.

Hikaru did not listen. She even fastened her steps, ignoring the pain in her leg. She felt the pain in her heart was more than it. At first, Hikaru wanted to ask Yabu what actually he hid. She could not stop thinking about the reason behind Yabu’s worried face. She believed something unpleasant had been happened to her senior. But the thought disappeared from her mind as she coincidentally heard Yabu would leave the town. The plan hurt her much more than she ever expected. He just lived for three weeks here… and… and… we only had four meetings… but he is able to take my heart away already…

Yabu, after all, was a man. He somewhat was faster and eventually managed to get a grip on Hikaru’s wrist. He forced Hikaru to stop running away by tightening the grip and pulled her back, facing him. He looked Hikaru’s eyes reddened and still producing tears. The look upon her face made his heart clenched. His hand deathly wanted to wipe the tears away. But is that okay?

“Hikaru…” Yabu softly called as he placed his hand on Hikaru’s shoulder. He actually wanted to hug her but they were on inappropriate place for doing that.

“Don’t touch me!” Hikaru yanked Yabu’s hand on her shoulder but kept lowering her voice in case not to draw the other parents’ attention.

Yabu sighed and stepped back, obeying what Hikaru’s demand in attempt to make her calm and not run for him. Seeing Yabu was in front of her and stepped back, Hikaru tried to stop her tears and wiped them out.

“Hikaru… listen…” Yabu started to explain but Hikaru immediately covered her ears and shut her eyes.

“I don’t want to hear! If you want to go in the first place… don’t get closer to anyone… mainly my daughter. Don’t treat her and me so kind! You know? She always talks about her new sensei since you came here? I trutfully worried about your relationship with her but I can’t force myself to ask her not to be so close to you. I know you… Yabu Kouta… You’re just like a wind… just come and go with your own will…” Hikaru spoke up her frustration without giving Yabu a chance to butt in. She eventually opened her eyes, sharply staring at Yabu with blurred vision. “You like giving hope to someone and then go away without warning!” She took a deep breath and stopped sobbing. “Don’t you ever again get close to us! I don’t want you make her sad because of your leaving. Let me talk and explain your leaving to her.” Hikaru ended and walked away but Yabu grabbed her wrist again.

“Do you know and understand the reason?” Yabu asked.

“I don’t need to know.” Hikaru coldly replied.

“Hika…”

“What’s the different?!!” Hikaru snapped. “Although she knows, will it decrease the pain because of it? Will she not cry? Will she let you go by smiles?” She showered Yabu questions to make him understand whatever the reason it still hurting her daughter and herself as well. “It’s enough me who felt how it was… don’t include her.” She sounded begging Yabu then took a deep breath. “I hate you… Yabu Kouta…” Hikaru directly looked into Yabu’s eyes.

Yabu could not answer back. His brain refused to work seeing Hikaru’s puffy eyes, hearing her outburst, and knowing he hurt her and Chihara as well. For the most… Hikaru hated him. His heart clenched and broke into pieces. It was the very first time Hikaru said that hurting one word and it very deeply stabbed his heart.

“You’re really Kou… Yabu-sensei… So vast and large… until my and Chihara’s hand can’t fit to keep you…” Hikaru mumbled with shaky voice before walking away. After she made few steps forward, she stopped as she saw a pair of shoes was in her way. She looked up and saw Chihara standing and worriedly looking at her.

“Okaa-san… you cried?”  Chihara looked up and tilted her head. She actually wanted to ask why Hikaru came because Yabu told her that he would send her home so Hikaru could get some other rest. But when she looked at the puffy eyes of her mother, she forgot about it completely.

Hikaru smiled and shook her head.

“But your eyes puffy, okaa-san.” She pointed at Hikaru’s eyes.

“Something got in my eyes.” Hikaru mumbled an excuse, hoping Chihara would not ask her further.

Chihara still frowned and darted her eyes to her mother and her handsome teacher. “Yabu-sensei didn’t make you cry, did he?” She nonchalantly asked.

“Why should okaa-san cry because of him?” Hikaru playfully asked back, giggling. She clearly hid her sadness behind her eyes.

“Hontou?” Chihara sounded unsatisfied.

Hikaru ruffled Chihara’s hair playfully yet lovingly. “Hontou ni hontou!” She reassured. “There’s no way for your new sensei makes your okaa-san cry.”

Chihara slowly smiled and nodded. “Yokatta, nee.”

Hikaru then held Chihara’s hand. “Sa, let’s go home now.”

“Uun. Bye, bye Yabu-sensei.” Chihara waved her hand meanwhile Hikaru looked at different direction where she could not see Yabu even just his shadow.

Yabu forced himself to smile at Chihara although he was inwardly crying. “Bye…”

“Ikou… okaa-san.” Chihara said and went home with her mother.

Yabu sadly looked at Hikaru and Chihara who walked further and further. He imagined they really left him alone and it hurt him more than he ever thought. He did not know when he started to consider and need them as parts of his life.

Yabu’s cell phone vibrated not long after. He lazily picked it up. “Moshi moshi…” When he heard the voice from the opposite line, he in an instant looked so angry.
