So after so many blurry shots of my Figuarts, I finally caved and upgraded my camera. I had a Kodak EasyShare C130, and now I bought a
Sony Cybershot W530 in Kamen Rider Decade pink. The upgrade is from 5 megapixels to 14. Big jump. And the pics are sharp and beautiful...when I manage to take them properly (sometimes I click before it can adjust properly).
First off, I ordered a Kingdom Hearts keychain from GameBaz. I know, after Climax Heroes, I swore off them. But it was literally the only place left that had this one in stock. It's
Rainfell, Aqua's Keyblade. Aqua's my favorite. The keychain is really heavy and sharp, and big enough that if they had hands that could actually hold it and support the weight, my Figuarts could use it. Not that I'm saying that they need to release Kingdom Hearts Figuarts, particularly of Aqua, but yes, they really do.
Also, in the week or so I was waiting for my new camera to arrive, I set up
Kaoru, Ren, and Shinji on their stands. Originally, they were on my sister's desk, but she's coming home in two weeks and I think she'd be mad at me if my action figures were all over her desk. And if they were from fandoms she didn't particularly care for. The stands I bought for Kaoru were Tamashii Stage stands from CS Toys International for about 50% off, in Sparking Red. And I say "stands" because they come with three. The other two I used for
Summer and Gemma.
But now onto the new toys. I ordered the Kamen Rider Faiz and the SIC Wolf Orphnoch from
eKnightAnime on ebay and Faiz Blaster Form and NEW Den-O Cho Den-O Trilogy version from Amazon (supplier: Treasure Island Sports), and got both shipments the same day. I recommend both services for great prices and speedy delivery.
Starting off with
Wolfy, since I've never had an SIC before. I'm generally not happy with the SIC versions of the Kamen Riders, but I love their Orphenochs. They're beautifully stylized and really manage to look even better than the original. The thing is that they're smaller than the Figuarts (look at the box comparisons above), which came as a big surprise. Wolfumi (bear with the terrible puns; I've got a million of these) does have one thing over his Figuart brothers, however, and that's
an easier interchangeable hand system. Maybe it's not as articulated as the ball-joints on the Figuarts, but having them on the hands themselves was infinitely easier to attach. Articulation, however, is a problem with Wolfumi. Because he's so heavily stylized,
the details really block off the points of articulation. Joints are difficult to move because there's
just too much stuff there. But, hey, it still looks amazing and I look forward to buying the Horse Orphnoch later on.
Cutting it off for now because I have to go to bed. I'll cover the Faiz Figuarts next.
