Got tagged on DA, so thought I'd cross-post here! :D
★Who did you first cosplay as?
I guess my very, VERY first cosplay was technically Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, though my first anime/manga cosplay was Chichiri from Fushigi Yuugi.
★When and where did you first cosplay?
Aside from a couple Halloweens that I wore Sally, first cosplay experience was Otakon 2001.
★When and where was the last time you cosplayed?
Otakon 2007
★Who have you cosplayed as in the past?
Hoh boy, let's see here...
Sally (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Chichiri (Fushigi Yuugi)
Schuldich (Weiss Kreuz)
Xelloss (Slayers)
Zelas-Metallium (Slayers)
Ayame Sohma (Fruits Basket)
Neji Hyuga (Naruto)
Baiken (Guilty Gear)
Axl Low (Guilty Gear)
(Though to be fair, Xelloss and Axl were other people's costumes that I just borrowed, and Ayame and Neji were done only once to be part of larger groups. ^ ^; )
For 2010, I'm going to be adding at least three, possibly four more:
Dist the Reaper/Rose (final battle costume, Tales of the Abyss)
Dist the Reaper/Rose (Belkend Labs version, Tales of the Abyss)
Dr. Saphir Neis (a.k.a. Hod Labs!Dist, Tales of the Abyss)
Angela Orosco (Silent Hill 2)
★Who is your favorite person to cosplay as?
Well, my MOST cosplayed character is definitely Chichiri from Fushigi Yuugi, and though I adore him, he isn't as much fun to cosplay anymore now that the series is getting older/less recognized. Schuldich was a great lot of fun, due in no small part to all the yaoi opportunities (XD), and running around in character as Xelloss is always a good time as well. ^ ^ Though, I think my next cosplay will almost certainly be joining the ranks of the favorites. X3
★Who do you REALLY wanna cosplay as?
I would really enjoy joining a Kingdom Hearts/Organization XIII group as Demyx, and I've thought about cosplaying Waka/Ushiwaka from Okami as well. Also, sometime in the day that will be never or at least very far-off, I would really like to do a really good, detailed version of Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Someday I might also do my avatar, who is an original sailor senshi that came into being in the long ago days of yore. I'd need to shape up a bit better for that one, though. ^ ^;
★How many of your friends cosplay?
Most of my friends have cosplayed at least once, but not all of them do it regularly.
★Have you ever walked around in public in your cosplay outfit?
Aside from the typical getting of food or "transporting to/from the 'con" phases, I'd have to say no, alas. ^ ^;
★Have people in public ever recognized you and asked for photos?
Haven't done it, so no.
★Have you ever made your own cosplay outfit?
What must be understood is that my sewing-fu is WEAK. ^ ^; I'm ashamed to say that all my cosplay costumes have either been pieced together from normal clothes ("closet cosplays", I think they're called), or mostly made by others. I try to help as best I can, though!
★When and where did you first learn of cosplay?
I honestly am not sure exactly when I learned about it, but it would have been before 2001, since that was the year of my first cosplay.
★What did you think of it then?
I thought it sounded like super-fun-happy-awesome time, because I love wearing costumes and being in character. "A chance to live-action role-play my favorite characters?? And do so with others?! And get pictures taken?! SIGN ME UP! :D"
★What do you think of it now?
Gotta say, it's just about the same. ^ ^
★Where do you usually cosplay?
Typically at various anime conventions. Otakon and Tekkoshocon have been the only ones I've attended regularly in the past, but Ohayocon is going to be added to the list soon. ^-^
★Have you ever done a cosplay skit on stage?
I have not, but I'd be all over the idea.
★Have you ever won a prize for said skit?
I has not done one!
★Do you plan your cosplay outfits waaay before you’re meant to wear them?
Yes, yes I do... Does this mean they get MADE way in advance? No, no it does not. XD
★Have you ever been to a convention and cosplayed?
This question is silly. :D
★What is the best thing about cosplay?
It's incredibly creative, and it's wonderful do see what people come up with, costume-wise. It's also really a measure of a person's devotion to a character, and that's always neat to see, too. Plus, it's just plain fun!
★What is the worst thing about cosplay?
COSTUME MALFUCTION ASDGFGJSHGFDG my patches are falling off and I'm getting heat stroke and dammit I'm supposed to be a guy here; breasts, go away! DX But other than all that usual stuff, I've also seen it used as a source of drama and elitism, but hey, on the internet, what isn't? ^ ^;
★Why do you cosplay?
My favorite thing about cosplaying is the ability to actually don a favorite character, both in costume and mannerisms, and role-play them with others. I'm such a performer at heart. ^-^; This is why I love being in groups and photoshoots so much; getting to perform for pictures and play with others (especially if they're in character too!) is always a great time. Plus, it's another form of fanwork, like stories or art, only acted out and photographed!
