In the past, Red had never been my choice of colour. It was not even my 4th choice of colour when I bought clothes or any products for the house. Even as my taste changed over the decade, and I successfully incorporated other colours into my ward brode, that was not just black/white/siler/blue/green, I only had 1 red dress shirt. Every Canada Day, I struggle to find anything red to wear to work.
For the last 3-4 months?, I have started to read alot of books again (non-manga stuffs). Last month, I just finished reading a long supernatural series called Anita Bkake, Vampire Hunters. While many books in this series, especially the later ones leave a lot to be desire, the series make me crave to wear red. I meant it when I said crave. For days I kept wanting to wear red tops, mostly red dress shirts because I like dress shirts, not so much into t-shirts. I even mumbled to my co-workers while I cleaned that I wanted to read red.
It's funny how the series influenced my taste in the colour red. The characters in the books do not made a point to wear red or even wear red much. Anita herself tend to wear red shirts as a last resort in a couple of books in the middle of the series ONLY because she did not have much "dressy clothes" to go to important and possibly deadly meeting. That was only in the early and middle parts of the series. If anything the early part of the series' clothes focus more on dark clothes made mostly of leathers and silky materials with BDSM themes chains and links accessories thrown in if the leopard packs & Jason (a werewolf) appears in the scenes.
While I'm on the topic of Anita Blake, I'm happy that the lastest book features the old and capable Anita again who is good at her job. I just wish the author, Ms. Hamilton, stops regurgitate explanations of past events and Anita's thinkings over and over again. I could understand if these explanations appear once to help new readers who don't follow the series. BUTTTT to have same explanations and thoughts appear 3-4 times in the book are just redundance and waste of spaces in the book. Ms. Hamilton has regurgitate explanations and thoughts in most of her books.
I am currently happy with my 6 red tops sitting in my closet. I was quite happy when I finally found an outlet store that carried so many different type of red shirts at a reasonable price. Even though this is Canada, it's not easy to find red shirts.
books - anita blake,
