Weird title I know. I was trying to be poetic but failed. Years ago before I got hooked into the world that was Hetalia, before becoming obsessed with KAT-TUN LJ fandom, I was very obsessed with the manga community. I tried out as many genres of manga as I could, I joined many forums, I hanged out or just was a silent lurker in the Scanlators' IRC channels. And because subconsciously I always wanted to be in control of something, whether I would fail or succeed, I wanted to at least tried it once: I ran a small manga hosting site. Nothing like those mega online viewing site nowaday. Years ago, viewing manga online was only something a few small sites done back then. It was a pain to run my small website. I switched to different web hosts often. Almost every month, download links died off due to uploaders got bankrupt or closed down. I devoted many hours running and fixing that site with my measly self-taught html knowledge. Around 2007/8(wow so long ago), I decided to go on a hiatus to focus on school. Many time I debated whether to completely close down the site or made a comeback. I didn't have the heart to close the site down. Tonight, I officially logged back in to most of the hosts to delete my accounts. One annoying host didn't have the delete option(I don't think I upload anything there anyway). I forgot the log in info for another earlier host. I feel like it's the end of of an era in my life. Japanese publishers have been very forceful lately in tracking down illegal sharing of manga. My long dead tiny teensy minuscule website would never catch their attention but better be safe than sorry. If I never read manga online, I would never have bought manga in Canada at all. Some people don't realize the drop in manga sale in the last couple of years are also due to the drop in the economy strength. Less work certainly affected my ability to buy manga or oversea music.
