I'm not one of those people who likes to post a lot about themselves on a journal that everyone can read. It's just my personality. I never say more than I have to and I tend to feel silly in writing journals because it feels like I'm talking to myself, which always seemed redundant to me

I didn't mean to imply anything about the project not being worth the trouble for you personally. I just wanted to point out the downsides that might not be as visible at first if you haven't done doujin stuff before. ^^; (And even purely as a beta service, I'm sure there will be many fic authors interested, as betas can always be very helpful.)
Although as for the fandom size, I stand by what I was saying, that compared to shonen manga fandoms (Naruto, Bleach etc...), the VK fandom is small. ^^;
If you look closely, both on DA and FFnet (I'm in both too), there's indeed more and more people who submit fanarts and fanfics nowadays (especially after the anime came about), but they're still a tiny minority compared to the vast majority of people, who just resubmit traces or colored pictures from the manga (in breach of the DA terms of service as the site is an art gallery for people to post creations done exclusively by them, and not a blog site etc. where such a thing would be okay) or Mary Sue fanfiction (FFnet).
Even counting all the Mary Sues etc., if you look just at the sheer quantities, the entire VK fanfiction archive on FFnet has about 3.800 fics, while a shonen series, for example Bleach, has more than 30.000 fics.
Heck, Naruto has 207.000+ fics! XD; *was surprised to see the number being so huge* XD;
Of course, VK is very popular for a shojo, and has considerably more fandom activity in the West than many other shojo series. But I was saying compared to shonen manga, which are always the big fandoms, as shojo is never quite that popular. ^^;
We do have WONDERFUL writers and fanartists though. :D Our fandom is very lucky that even though it's small, the people who do create for it are amazing. Some of the writers on FFnet in particular, produce work that's far better than such a large amount of published novels. :)
Well, I'm rambling. In short, what I was trying to say: Our fandom is small but wonderful (even if we also have some of the issues of bigger fandoms such as ship wars etc. ^^;), and good luck with your editing project if you decide to go for it. :)

And feel free to ramble. I find I like rambling...its helping me work out some of the kinks and issues in this crazy idea.
As far as Mary Sue fiction is concerned. If you thought it was bad in fanfic, you should see the stuff the comes up in original fiction. I once had a chapbook submission that was some guys sexual exploits...that he was trying to pass off as actual fiction. The slush is original fic is just as bad as fanfic.
Which is partially what gave me the idea, beyond my own little selfish desire to practice my editing skills, if I could create something that could showcase some of the better fic and help point readers in the direction of those authors than maybe it would be worth it.
I know I'm one of those readers that grows weary of sifting through all of those submissions to find one I might enjoy...which is probably why I end up perusing whatever author I happen to be reading's favorites list.
This would be like free advertising...of a sort.
And now...I'm rambling....it's infectious.

But even if we are tiny in comparison, we hopefully shine by quality over quantity, maybe. XD *lol*

Actually, I worked in publishing on the other side of the table (publisher, not author) for several years. Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to horrible stuff like that. 8D *lol*
I merely complain about the Mary Sues because it frustrates me to see so many of those when I refresh FFnet in hopes to find some Zero x Kaname. XD *lol*
