Joe won a copy LotR: RotK today. yay! I'm sitting here typing though... instead of watching it.
My mom got bad news with the whole cancer thing today. It was phase 3, the most aggressive and fast spreading type of cancer. Of course that doesn't change the fact that her nodes are negative.. so that's excellent. But of course, she wants more kids... so she's all torn up about the great possibility of them either ending her menstruation purposefully, or her being infertile after chemo.
My opinion is... that she needs to let them end menstruation. The longer she menstruates after this, the higher her chances of cancer coming back go. But.. she can opt to have eggs removed and preserved, so when she does want to have more kids, they can do invitro fertilization and she can still have kids. Makes more sense to me. That way, she'll have the lowest % of recurrence, and still be able to have more kids.
If she chooses to allow her menstruation to continue, I'll still support her, but be extremely disappointed, 'cuz there's no guarantee she'd be fertile, and two, that totally increases her chances of getting cancer again.
Shit, if I could afford to have my breasts lobbed off and new ones put in as a precaution for breast cancer... I would so totally do it. ;)
