In the Phil. Red Cross on-line donation (
http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/Default.aspx?S=48&SS=972 ), the project/activity is Typhoon Ondoy.
And the Php to dollar rate is: Php47.52 = $1
My family and friends are ok. But the rest of my countrymen aren't.
The storm has passed, but there are still PLENTY of people in need. Please, please continue to donate and pray for all the victims. And please continue to spread the word.

http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=139243157902 This is probably the most tragic typhoon disaster that ever hit the Philippines in my entire life. I am not currently in the Philippines, but I have family and friends over there.
My mom was watching the news, and she was telling me
-how dead bodies are just there, floating, on the flooded streets in one region of Manila
-how people are stranded on objects floating on rushing waters. They keep on calling for
help but those on high land are powerless to help them, else they die.
-how people who try to help those stranded on makeshift rafts/floating debris and things drown and die in the process of helping.
-how people couldn't evacuate and bring some food with them on time because of the fast-rising water. So a lot -- a whole LOT -- are hungry, with no food or shelter. The media and the government are all trying to rescue and answer the most urgent calls for help, but they just CAN'T get to them all because they don't have enough helicopters or equipment.
-how people's families and friends are missing, and they don't know if they're alive and stranded somewhere, or dead.
If you want to know how high the water is: an entire van got submerged in the flood, and vanished entirely. Went down to the bottom. That's how high the water is.
My mom was also telling me of this one man whose entire house got flooded, and not the flood that just goes up to the ankles or even to the knees, or not even to the waist. TOTAL flooding.
And when the water went down, he saw his son lying dead on the stairs.
The man said his son might have been sleeping when it flooded, that's why his son didn't get to higher ground on time.
Please, even if you can't donate, please please PRAY. No matter what your religion or faith is. Please, PRAY for them.
