If you didn't already know, Michael Jackson's memorial is being held today. According to one article, the memorial is being broadcast live on all major networks as well as several live streaming locations, so even if you don't own a tv there's still no reason for you to miss it. And just to pound the point in, there was a streaming video in the middle of the text.
As if. Michael Jackson was big, and some of his older songs were good, but he's not someone I'd go into mourning for.
But the funniest thing I read in that same
article - I can't decide if the writer was poking fun under the surface or had some secondary hidden meaning or what:
Some of the biggest names in pop music are taking part in the memorial service,
including Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Mariah Carey, Usher, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Hudson and John Mayer. Civil rights leader Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III, and basketball stars Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant are also expected to attend.
I'm not the only one who notices that all the named attendees, except for John Mayer, are black, right? So what, is this implying that the black community has finally re-accepted Michael "The Black Dude Who Turned White - Literally" Jackson, after his death? I mean, good grief, why are you naming Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant of all people? They're not even singers! Did they even know Michael Jackson personally?
