(136) Naruto. Rules.

I'm caught up to Chapter 400 of Naruto.

My only reaction is: Oh My God.

I can't believe what's happened in the intervening time between Sasuke killing Orochimaru and the present. So many secrets are spilled, I can't take them all! The death of Jiraiya and the "prophecy" of the destined child, the appearance and names (finally!) of Naruto's parents, the beginnings of behind Konan and Pein, the third great doujutsu, and finally the Uchiha...oh the Uchiha...

Can you believe that all those theories about Itachi actually being a good person, of just trying to protect Sasuke, were true? Of course, the real matter goes deeper than that, but the fact that Itachi, the lauded bastard, the cold-hearted killer, the most hated of all the Akatsuki in so many fanfics -- the fact that he is actually a peace-loving guy who loved his brother but was forced to shove that love away...I just can't take it. How could we have been right about this theory, when we were wrong about the Tobi one? Granted, we did catch onto Madara as being a main character fast, but nobody -- and I mean nobody -- that he was Tobi. Obito threw us off but good.

In any case, I don't trust Madara. He founded the Akatsuki, after all...there are things on his agenda that Sasuke doesn't know about, and in his current state I doubt that Sasuke can differentiate between friend and foe, and truth and lie, and who truly cares for him, at the moment. If he decides to follow Madara, who knows what havoc he can wreak. I think Madara is telling the truth about Itachi, but not his own role. I mean, he's controlling Pein. Though I now admit, a lot more of the Akatsuki know who's the "real" leader than I first thought. Could it be that Deidara, Hidan, Sasori, and Kakuzu were just puppets? And what of Kisame...how much does he know about Itachi? Is this why he has so much respect for the man?

...

I'm so glad that I didn't suffer from the worst cliffhanger of all time: the battle between Jiraiya and Pein, where all six of Pein's figures jumped on him at once. Hoo boy but I would've gone crazy...but then to have Kishimoto jump to Sasuke instead! That was doubly cruel, to make everyone wait two weeks to find out what happened.

But regarding Jiraiya's last days, or last act rather: I have a theory on what those numbers he burned into the old toad's back is. Remember how Jiraiya wrote a book that Minato termed as practically an autobiography? And how Jiraiya said he'd met/fought all those men before? Well, it follows then -- those numbers are not a code, but rather page numbers. And once Naruto and co. read that book, everything will be revealed on the identities of those six men! But where's Nagato? Maybe there are actually seven Peins, and Nagato's hidden his own real self away!

I want to see a Pein/Madara fight. Ooh but that'd be good. Actually, upon thinking about this, I wanna see the First Hokage and Madara's fight. How in the world did the first defeat him? Why the hell doesn't Pein fight Madara for supremacy? I'm sure he'd win, given the superiority of the Rin'negan against the Sharingan...I think....

naruto, awe, rant
