The Looking-Back Woes
So you know how I said I was writing on "The Bet" again? Well, that's still going (thankfully) but I was going back through some older chapters to kind of see if what I'm writing really makes sense for the characters, since it's been FOREVER since I wrote on this story, and...well. I think I might have died a little inside. OMG. The writing. It's TERRIBLE. *cries*
Last year, I sort of vowed to myself that I didn't want to write any more on it until I went back through and seriously revised the other 29 chapters. lol. No easy task, obviously. But, my views or characterizations for the characters have changed, and nothing meshes right anymore. I mean, I did start writing this story in 2004...obviously my tastes and style have changed. I have every intention of keeping the old version in an archive, so the people who want to can go back and read it, but I've actually already started revisions, and I'm only up to chapter three. ~_~ I actually completely re-wrote chapter one (but I swear it's better now, and the plot is still the same), but I'm not sure how to go about revising the rest of it. It's like...I'm not sure I really want to re-write the whole thing, like I did with chapter one, but I kind of feel like I might need to, and yet, there are people waiting on me to finish the damn thing, and there are at least 10 chapters left, and I kind of feel like I might need help on how to get from the beginning to my proposed ending and have it be kick-ass. Because right now, the story really is all over the place. I didn't start outlining the story until chapter 21. *facepalm*
I'm not sure what I'm asking here. Maybe for volunteers to help me go over it all? To re-work the plot and smooth the edges and get all the disgusting epithets and horrible, cringe-worthy prose out? There are so many problems with the story, I'm not sure it can be saved. lol. But I want to try. (Goddess, I'm not even sure if I love the premise anymore, but, well, can't really change it now! hahaha! I love the characters, though (my OCs) and I really think I can make it work and make more sense...I just need some clarity here.)
Anyhow. If anyone's interested, please let me know. It'll be a long process, I know it, but I think it will be good to go back and review everything from a different angle. :)
