Inspiration

Before anything else, I have to mention how happy I am for the fanart that  a1y_puff drew in response to my story Diamond Crevasse. It's so pretty!

A lot of people have been asking me lately where all my ideas come from. I don't know if it’s just me being weird like that but I find the question to be odd. In my mind everything is inspiration and I think up new scenes that I can use in my stories just about every day.

I’m told that it's amazing I can come up with so many pieces that are all unique in their own right, which in truth is a relatively small amount of fiction. But in all seriousness the plot is the easy part. The skeleton with all the order of events (subject to change of course) can be done in minutes with an inspired idea. It’s the actual writing that takes forever.

So just in case that wasn't clear enough, I don't think I'll ever run out of ideas, even if I can't write them they're sure to be sitting backed up on my computer with new ones constantly being added just waiting to get fleshed out.

As for my choice of words that people seem quite fond of, my advice (though I'm far from being qualified to give it) would be to take extra care in observing things around you. Observation is the most valuable tool for a writer. Take a couple extra moments to fully utilize your senses when you get a chance and take everything.

A good way to get better at descriptions would be to practice daily. Doesn't have to be a lot, just choose one thing, a picture with someone's expression or a table cloth, or even that weird looking antique junk your family's been hoarding since the beginning of time. Then simply observe it, the textures, the appearance, what sound it makes when in a state of stasis or when it’s in movement, and how it smells. I'd advise against tasting it unless its food but if you really want to go right ahead :P

If you can't think of words to describe something go and look it up. This way, not only will you be better able to depict the object in written form, but you'll also be expanding your vocabulary.

On another note I thought I’d share a lovely little site I found awhile ago.

Lots of Shounen Ai Doujinshi for your viewing pleasure.

To see the “hard” stuff you need to enter a password in the box that’ll come up. You can find it by following the instructions in the FAQ section.

There are some great D.Gray Man ones there :)

Personally I wish there was more Yullen but I settle for AreKan (either way it’s quite satisfying to read)

And please don't click the link if you're underage and know you can’t handle it. I'd really like it if I didn't get in trouble for corrupting anyone.

That said and done, I'm going to head off and try to finish up a fiction that I hope to post later tonight or tomorrow morning.
