If the internet decided elections...

So I did a little research, ok so I basically went to social networking sites and search engines and put in Obama and McCain and compared the results. If the internet is any precursor to the outcome of the election (which I'm hoping it might be, but i won't rely on it) Barack Obama would stomp John McCain into the ground. Maybe it's the fact that Obama appeals more to the age group more likely to use technology and the internet. Or it could just be that he's awesome...yeah I like that one a lot.

Anyway, here is the breakdown of my non-scientific research expirament (yes, it's a slow day at work so far):

Flickr (a photo sharing website and social network community)

Obama = 165,125 full text results

McCain = 17,779 full text results

Edge = Obama

Myspace (an social networking community)

Obama = 712,000 results

McCain = 122,000 results

Edge = Obama, once again.

and finally, the ultimate test...

Google (the most popular search engine on the internet)

Obama = ~63,900,000 results (this is an estimate)

McCain = ~41,600,000 results (also an estimate)

Edge = While McCain was closer on this one, Obama easily has more results from Google)

Again, while this is no scientific expirament, it is interesting to compare the results between the two canidates. Now let's hope this translates to real life.
