Even worse.. they are remaking 'Poltergeist'!!!!

Nothing really is sacred.. they should stop trying to 're-imagine' these classics.

*sigh*

It's possible that all these reimaginings are fall out from the Hollywood script writers strike a few months ago. When new starts being written again, it will filter down.

I hope you're right, though it's a cycling theme in Hollywood. It's hard to look past most remakes as nothing more than an opportunity taken by studios to fatten the backroll a bit though. Maybe I'm missing something.

It's not a "get rich quick" scheme, at least not from my point of view, it's the death of creativity. Let's face it, when was the last time you went to see a movie that wasn't a remake, or a sequel or prequel, or based on something else already hailing from pre-existing cinematic or artistic roots that wowed you? Best I can do is Jarhead and that was a good two years ago. Hollywood's bemoaning their plummeting revenues and blaming the pirates but quite frankly, I think piracy is only raping the hell out of DVD sales. People aren't going to the theaters anymore because quite frankly, everything in the theaters these days suck more dick that Tug at the Mister Universe competition. Walking out of the Dark Knight, Bunnah and I took a look at the movie posters they had up... out of the fifteen or so posters we saw THREE that we agreed would be tolerable. Not that were excited about... or wanted to see... or would even see. Oh no, I meant "tolerable" in the fact that it might be rented someday if the stars align perfectly on some ( ... )
