Kouda Gakuto (甲田学人), author of the Missing series and Grimm's Fragments (断章のグリム) is fucking intense. Like, Missing was intense. Missing was extremely intense. And Grimm's Fragments is just as intense, except it's like, weirdly magical..With kids in costumes running around but extremely gothic because like, the one girl cuts herself and the one guy had a friend when he was 8 who cut herself..because 8 year olds totally cut themselves. I mean, maybe they do. I have no idea. It just seems strange.

Anyway, it's called Grimm's Fragments because terrible things happen that follow along the same line as stories from the Grimm story books, and this one is about Cinderella, but the Grimm Cinderella where the evil stepsisters get their eyes pulled out and birds help Cinderella sort the bad beans from the good beans by having the good ones put in a pot and the bad ones eaten. I don't know, I've never read it. Well, this girl is abused by her evil mom and the mom dies and so she's at the cremation with her relatives because in Japan they pull out the bones from the ashes with chopsticks and put it in this pot, but because the mom was sick for a long time with cancer some of the bones are discolored. And the daughter is like, wow, this is a lot like Cinderella, and when she thinks that suddenly the relatives start eating the discolored bones.

They all start squaking and chirping and their eyes get round and they eat all the discolored bones right from the ashes. And then out of nowhere they start stabbing each other in the eyes with their chopsticks so the chopsticks break off in the orbital cavities and it's just really fucking intense.

I LOVE BOOKS. But like, screw classical literature. I've read through most of Oscar Wilde's plays and The Picture of Dorian Gray, which was pretty awesome and everything, and I'm reading through Dante's The Divine Comedy right now since I figure I should read some real books before college, but still. Nothing beats dumb Japanese novels that have cartoon girls in fluffy black dresses on the cover but are actually about a girl who when she was young her sister killed and cut up her parents and then set herself on fire and now her soul always follows the other sister around.

IN OTHER NEWS..Malan got voted off Project Runway so I don't even know if I want to watch it anymore. I was in love with Malan from the beginning. First of all, what a sexy name. Malan.

Malan..

Screw that. Screw. That. Hey! I may go stay over my boo's place tonight. Eh. I haven't decided yet. I have nothing interesting to right about. College soon. Yay?

I ordered the next four Saiunkoku Monogatari novels the other week but I didn't put the second Grimm's Fragments in the order since I hadn't started reading the first one and now I'm pissed at myself since I'm almost done.

And I got Corinne a job at Wanokura and we work together lunch shift tomorrow.

Best quote from a book ever: "Peace, you wolf of hell! Choke back your bile and let it blister your own throat."

YOU TELL HIM VIRGIL! Hey, anyone want to talk literature with me? More importantly, anyone want to go out and rent the old-school A Midsummer Night's Dream and A Picture of Dorian Gray for me so we can have a lame artsy movie night since I don't have a Blockbuster card? Umm, A Midsummer Night's Dream was on HBO the other day but I couldn't watch it all since I got shanghaied into picking up pizza for my brother and now I just want to watch through the all thing.

I want to see that Evil House Nickelodeon movie. Screw you guys.

HOW NOW MALAN, WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO?!
