Canon History: On the night Naruto was born, a nine tailed demon fox, the Kyuubi attacked his home village of Konoha. The village’s leader at the time could not defeat the demon, so as a last resort, he sealed the monster inside the newborn child Naruto. As he dies it was his final wish that the child be treated as a hero by the villagers, a wish that wasn’t granted.
Naruto grew up ostracized from the other children, the villagers calling him a monster, a demon, for the first twelve years of his life, he never had a friend or anyone who he could call family. Until his teacher Iruka, looked past the fact a demon was sealed inside the boy, and saw him for the person he was. Iruka allowed Naruto to graduate the ninja academy, despite always having been the last in class, and become a real ninja.
Naruto’s first year as a genin was an eventful one, he travelled to many places, saw many things and met many people. He learned about different views on the life of a ninja, and how difficult it could be. Along with his teammates, Sakura and Sasuke, and his teacher, Kakashi, he fought rogue ninja’s and even participated in the chuunin exams that year, an unusual thing for such newly gradated ninja. In that exam he met a boy named Gaara, a jinchuuriki (demon container) like him, and though they fought, Naruto was able to turn around Gaara’s viewpoint, show him that because he had a demon inside him it didn’t mean he was a monster who could only kill. He could be more; he just had to show people.
Naruto also met a man called Jiraiya, the one who would become his official teacher for the next few years, and learned of his village’s greatest enemy, Orochimaru, who had designs on Sasuke and his Sharingan eyes. Sasuke was hungry for power to get revenge on his older brother, and after seeing how strong Naruto was becoming decided that the only way he could become strong enough was to leave and join Orochimaru and take the power and teachings he was offering. Naruto of course chased after him, and the two battled each other fiercely at the Valley of the End, Naruto didn’t want to lose his best friend, even using the demon’s chakra to try and beat him, but in the end Sasuke won, knocking him out, and left.
After Naruto recovered from that fight, he left with Jiraiya to train as his apprentice for two years, vowing to become strong enough to get Sasuke back and also to defeat Akatsuki, a criminal organisation (of whom Sasuke’s brother was a member’ who sought to capture all of the tailed demons for themselves.
Upon his return, Naruto was sent immediately to the Village hidden in the Sand, where Akatsuki had moved to capture Gaara and were extracting his demon from him, killing him in the process. Alongside Sakura and Kakashi, he was was able to defeat the Akatsuki members responsible and thanks to an elder from the Sand village, Gaara was ressurected, albeit without his demon. During the battle, Sakura learned of Orochimaru’s whereabouts, and a possible lead to Sasuke’s location. On their next mission, they left hoping to get him back.
It didn’t go well, Sasuke fought against them, and Naruto lost control to the demon inside him, almost killing Sakura. Afterwards, he trained harder to control it, and to improve his ability to use his own powers rather than relying on the fox’s chakra. After fighting and killing two other Akatsuki members Konoha recieved word that Orochimaru was dead, killed by Sasuke, and without him the Sound village was falling apart.
Konoha decided to send a team, Naruto included to try and capture Itachi before Sasuke could reach him, since they knew that would be Sasuke's goal now after killing Orochimaru. Sasuke meanwhile gathered his own team, striking out and killing Deidara on the way, Sasuke found Itachi and proceded to engage him in a fight, learning the truth behidn Sasuke's actions and the Kyuubi's attack on Konoha, while Naruto's team ran into Tobi.
Deviation: On the night Uchiha Itachi murdered his clan, he didn't leave the village alone, instead he stopped off at the apartment were the young Naruto was living. Waking the young child and convincing him the Hokage had ordered that he leave with Itachi for his own safety, considering how the villagers treated him Naruto happily believed him, he fled the village with the boy in tow.
For the next few years Naruto followed under Itachi's lead, being taught by the older ninja, helping him do 'Konoha's' work with various assassinations and other strange missions such as subterfuge and retrieving items. The older nin even told Naruto about the demon fox who resided inside him and taught him how to use the fox's chakra alongside many other techniques. The Uchiha was a ruthless teacher, and Naruto soon began to grow deadlier and deadlier with his guidance, he could safely try to use the Kyuubi's power under Itachi's manipulation thanks to the Sharingan.
Throughout it all Itachi tried to keep Naruto away from making friends and talking to people, though the boy managed it anyway, making friends easily amongst those who didn't know his origins and held no prejudice. As a result, despite his grisly work and the harshness of Itachi's companionship Naruto became happier than he had been back in konoha, though he still missed the village. He eagerly awaited the day when he could go back, as Itachi had once said he would.
When Naruto was fifteen Itachi took him to the Sand village, telling him they were going to capture the jinchuuriki there along with another squad. It was when Naruto was watching Gaara's demon ripped out of him and sealed, and his first encounter with other Konoha shinobi since he was young, that he began to realise that something here wasn't right, that maybe Itachi hadn't been telling him the whole truth...
Personality: Oddly, despite his upbringing Naruto has an oddly cheerful and optimistic disposition, a strong will and a determination to accomplish his goals drive him to succeed again and again in whatever he does.
Unlike his OU counterpart though, this Naruto doesn't hold back, he goes into a fight with the determination to kill if he has to and won't pull any punches. Just as he was taught to.
Appearance: Naruto has a stocky build, well but not overly muscled, he's rather short and stands at 5'4. Due to poor nutrition in early childhood and a diet that consisted mainly of ramen and other cheap, low in vitamin foods his growth has been somewhat stunted, though Itachi forced him to eat healthy after taking him under his wing. Naruto has bright blonde hair, cut into short spikes, and blue eyes which set off his deeply tanned skin well.
On his face there is a distinct set of marking, three whisker like scars on each cheek that he has had ever since the Kyuubi was sealed inside him.
Clothing wise Naruto 's favourite colour to wear is orange, but since he has a mentor who disapproves highly of ninja running round in bright colours he is usually restricted to black clothing, with the occassional orange accessory (like a belt) snuck in. He prefers loose clothing, trousers and jackets with room to move, usually with a netted or cloth shirt underneath and traditional ninja sandals. He wears no headband, since he is working 'undercover'.
Abilities: Like any ninja, Naruto can use a wide variety of skills involving the manipulation of chakra, these include things such as walking on walls or water, transforming, cloning himself
Strengths: Naruto has incredible endurance, thanks to the Kyuubi his chakra reserves are beyond that of most ninja, he can keep going and accomplish feats that would exhaust most others. He is most skilled in close-combat with taijutsu and combination attacks with his shadow clones.
His strength of will, its how he survived as a young child and how he learned under Itachi's tutelage at such an exceptional rate. When Naruto sets his mind on something, he will accomplish it, no matter what.
He is also extremely ingenuitive when in combat, able to come up with complex, brilliant strategies in seconds.
Weaknesses: Genjutusu, Naruto can't use it, nor is he effectively able to find his way out of it once captured. Its one of those times when he is forced to rely on anyone around him or pure luck to escape.
His temper, Naruto is easily riled up into attacking or acting without thought, while this is an adavantage at time, against enemies who know how to use it his temperament is an effective disadvantage. While not as bad as his OU counterpart's it is still there and still prone to being provoked easily.
The Kyuubi, while using the demons chakra give Naruto great strength, it is also damaging his body every time he uses it, especially when he enters the four-tailed form.
