Title: And from the waters he rose Character: Kakuzu Words: 3684 Rating: T Summary: backstory-thingy Author's note: Guess what! I finally managed to write something a little longer.
The whole fic is probably more about things happening to Kakuzu than him actually initiating what happens. The scene where he uses "Earth Grudge Fear" probably shows that. It is a bit like being swallowed and being spit out as something else without being able to control the process or the outcome. Furthermore I am bad at writing people experiencing all too strong emotions and therefore always settle for them making sometimes not so logical self-reflective statements therefore I focused more on Kakuzu "dying" as a man and being made into whatever he considers himself to be now. So no great unleashing of his newfound power exept that tiny snippet that comes after.
About the touches remaining somehow detached. Kakuzu goes from being "bought" like in the piece with the head hunter to being a "buyer". (Actually I noticed only now what he experiences gains in "lovingness" through the story). It might be that his main accomplishment through the story is being freed from things wielding power over him and mainly because of that fact gaining power, so it might not be likely for him to really bond with someone.
Probably I should tell you that I thought of all of this just now. While writing this I only focused on the earth/water dualism... So you definitely think about my stories more than I do.
Such a long comment deserves a longer reply, but at the moment I can't think of something else. Thank you for reading my fic and writing me kind, immensely inspiring comments!
