Graduated!

Aug 05, 2009 23:34

Hello my lovelies! I apologise for the lack of activity in this journal over the past few months, but I have had my graduation thesis and exams to study for. However, now that I have finally graduated and am searching for some form of gainful employment, it means I may actually have the time and energy to write! Egads.

...How exciting for you.

In all honesty, I realise I've been quite remiss in upkeeping this journal and I do apologise. I'm hoping that I do get some stuff posted before I go away on holiday in two weeks time, and that I can get something interesting up, though I am seriously considering taking down most official/semi-official versions of Nephilim. Mostly because I realise how raw it is, but I also want to get some more research done too.

This is my current writing to do list, in no particular order:

- Finally post that bloody Valentines day meme. I've done a good chunk of it, and I at least want to complete part one. I just found the file tonight, so I'll hopefully get working on it soon.

- Do some proper planning for Nephilim, at least for the first story arc. Try and get the first chapters written down, and just get into the writing of it. Decide how I want things to flow.

- I started writing my mini yakuza saga, which I've given the WIP title of Yama to Mori. Pretentious maybe, but after five years I hopefully know what I'm talking about when I make actual allusions to Japan. I don't know how epic it will be in scale though: might be tiny, might draw itself out.

- I started a tentative re-write of My Last Wilderness. Which I probably shouldn't have done considering I only got 20,000 odd words into the first draft. But a lot of it was waffle, so I want to tighten up the story-flow and put some more meat on the bones. Maybe even decide an ending!

- NANOWRIMO 2009: Here's the big scary animal. I've got no clue of what do this year. I usually end up with a frothy fantasy or sci-fi setting, and while I do love those kinds of stories, I'm starting to worry that I can't reach for the big epic scale leagues. It's nice to aspire, but to do that kind of world building inside a month? Although I find adpoting a plot a bit scary... Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
