I would never dream of ranting!

Have you ever typed out a long post and then deleted it all because you knew that it would be more trouble than it was worth to post it?

Yeah.

And then you type it again, and then delete it again and finally you realize you have to type something or your heartburn will get worse.

So... here's the really, really short version of just a few things occupying/annoying me today.

I'm really annoyed with what some people's priorities are in fan fiction. No, nobody said anything to me lately, it's just from looking around that I became annoyed. You can write the worst shit and it's ok if you just have smutsmutsmutsmut! On the other hand, those that write really lovely smutless fics are likely to get these kinds of msgs: "it waz rly gud, but cud u plz add smutty epilog, okthxbai"

Seriously, people. Literotica is your friend. And may I recommend getting a boyfriend and/or dildo.

!

It just feels like the PG-writers don't have a prayer around these parts and it's a real pity. Honestly? I like good smut as much as the next horny female, but those fics are just rarely actually well written. If you want a good story, you will often have to look to someone with other priorities than to just stuff smut in there. Alas, they are not likely to be on any rec-lists around here because it's all about SMUT.

I'm not saying that anyone who writes smut sucks because... hello? But I'm saying that 90% probably do and people demanding MOAR SMUT in existing fics definitely do as well.

Oh, and angst. Tons of pointless angst. Let's not forget the bonus points for Draco killing Hermione with his own two hands and then committing suicide afterwards because that makes so much more sense than him risking his neck for her in the first place.

Blergh.

Whatever.

And this from a writer of smut and angst. I'm just annoyed. It turns me off. It makes me not want to write smut and angst because I know that too many people won't appreciate any work I put into canon compatibility, character development and, gee, a story! Not to mention that I actually want to be better at the actual writing part... who cares? As long as they fuck and hurt each other and themselves, who cares if it's well-written?

Also, our cable-tv providers tried billing us £30 too much for the box. WTF!? I had Maz call them and they'll send another bill, but it annoys me. Their site had the right price, the e-mail we got had the right price and yet they bill us the wrong amount!? I don't actually check all bills we get. I sign them up to be automatically paid by my bank as they come in, and I could easily have bloody missed this. The price on the bottom line didn't even tip me off, I only read it because I was curious as to how often they bill etc.

And I hope my application for maternity leave monies goes through the system in a speedy fashion. Pr. September I have to pay a) the phone bill for when we were in Spain (I tells you, using those things abroad is expensive) b) my insurances (although we don't need the same kind of medical insurance as e.g. Americans, property and life insurance is still a good idea) c) electricity d) tv -- not cable, in Denmark it costs just to own a bloody tv because we have "government-funded" (more like forced user-funded) channels. Honestly, they can take those channels and shove them, it pisses me off that I have to pay for something I never watch... e) the new bill we will get for cable-tv

But, yeah, they do say it's the Devil's Birthday around this time... all those things will probably eat up my first month's maternity pay. Bother.

I just hope our landlord (Maz' dad) will be quick to refund us for the new fridge... the one it only took us like a year to buy XD But at least it's on its way now... It'll be nice to have one that isn't falling apart, though. We also invested in another bookcase (we have 3 already but they're full) and all sorts of other things that will make it easier not to, you know, have things all over the tables and floors. We have too much crud. And now... I will go online and finally order the baby package we decided to buy. Did I show the image? I probably did. But here it is again:

I'm naughty. I hotlink. And you don't understand what the text says anyway. XD It just lists what you get (I bet you hadn't guessed that ;)) It lists the pram, carrycot, changing bag, mattresses (for pram and carrycot) features of the pram that couldn't interest you less, mosquito net, waterproof thingie to put over it same as the mosquito net (seriously, you need that here in Denmark), a harness for older babies (see picture), cot, mattress, baby duvet, baby pillow, bedclothes and uh... something you put on the inside of the side of the cot. Wow, that was interesting, wasn't it? (*yawn*)

There are tons of "packages" like these. This one isn't even that cheap. I think it's actually the most expensive of all the packages I've seen so far. We have quite a few reasons for choosing it, though. For one, we've actually checked out the pram and most of the other things in the package up close in the stores and we approved/preferred the things over the ones in the other packages. Especially the pram. It's lightweight aluminum, making it easier to maneuver for the long-suffering mummy who needs to get that thing on and off the bus. And it's sort of nice looking imo. Not as pretty as Emmaljunga or Brio, but those brands are all about being brands and being pretty and hence are a lot more expensive without really giving you anything more. *sighs* But, like I said, I actually do like this one and we had more or less decided on it before we even discovered the package. The grip and wheels aren't made of super cheap material either, (which always makes me suspicious when they are) but are actually good quality.

Then there's the fact that this brand (Trille) is all about safety and has all sorts of stamps on them. That helps. And the size of it... the outer size is not too big (think about mummies suffering buses again), yet it's fairly roomy on the inside, making it possible for the baby to nap in it until he's about three years old. Not that anybody ever uses it for that long, but we could. And on the "using long" note, the cot's bottom can be lowered to make the bed suitable for a toddler. And yeah, there are all these minor things included that we would otherwise have to buy on the side and we end up saving about... I think we arrived at a total save of £200 from if we were to buy all the same things individually. And, honestly, we're saving more than that, because if I were to buy e.g. a cot on its own, I would be like "ooh, that's pretty! No, that's pretty! No, that...!" until I finally persuaded Maz that we needed one that's probably at least three times the price of this one. XD

This package will of course be funded by my mother. Remember she gave us money for a pram? Yep. She gave us enough that we actually can get this whole thing. So, in a way... this is all free! :D

We're still not liking her, though. Why? Well, see this chair:

We want one. It's about £125 without pillows and such, but look how awesome it is! You can use it forever! Very useful. It's also virtually indestructible, I hear. You know what my mother did? She won one, complete with pillows and "baby kit" or whatever they call it, and is totally rubbing it in! She's stocking up on baby stuff to a degree that I had to ask her if she planned on completely taking him over as soon as he was out, and she just said, "We could always discuss that option..." Strange woman. She's only 44, by the way. Technically she might still be able to procreate, what do I know, but she appears to think it a lot more fun to be a grandmother.

Blergh. Well, we'll just want one of those chairs for Christmas. There's a good chance that Maz' parents would get us one, then. HAH. >_> AND we could get the color we wanted then... (maple, like all the other furniture in the living room)

And, you know, come to think of it... the stocking up on baby stuff... My mother has more baby stuff than I do at this point! I have that cardigan sent to me from Wales (Yay, so cuuuute), a Disney bib and some cute dino baby bedclothes. XD That's it. Better get that package ordered...
Hah! That was long!
