I should be doing my exam essay for Wednesday. I'll be fucked if I don't. Meh. It's this grammar thing where I have to make these ridiculous analyses of sentences. I just hope to pass, can't be arsed to hope to do well.
Preliminary votings started at
dramione_awards. I suck. I'm sooo behind on the reading and, so far, I only know what I'm voting in the drabbles. You have to vote in at least six different categories. I can see why that might be, but it's a bit daunting for someone like me who will not cast a vote without reading ALL stories in a category.
mazvn also said he wanted to vote, but he's also going "that's a lot of stories..." so I told him I wouldn't blame him if he didn't. I think he was just going to pick one or two categories that looked interesting to him, so I understand how six is too much for him. And no, he wasn't just going to swoop in and vote in for all of mine, since I'm actually in four preliminary categories :P
He's currently reading the kissing scenes, though, and from what he's writing me on MSN (yes, we use MSN, easier than shouting across the house) he's not very impressed XD I haven't read those yet.
My greatest problem, I think, will be to separate the stories from the authors. I will do it, though. You'll get no friendly neighborhood votes from me :P I only wish I could trust that everyone else did the same... Oh, well.
Ok, Baby is nauseous from those snippets
mazvn is sending me on MSN. XD I don't mean to be mean but... damn! Well, it's not really mean when it's not me reading them and I don't even know who wrote what. Yes. And I'm hormonal. I can use that excuse for a long, long time :P
An awful lot of rambling on that front... but that's certainly more fun than homework!
I had extreme cramps yesterday... they really hurt. But I don't think it was the baby, seemed to be just my stomach that was upset. At least there wasn't any blood or anything. And from the way I'm still nauseous and everything today, it's still in there, going strong, making Mummy miserable. And hungry. And fat.
I swear... I know I'm not supposed to show after six and a half weeks, and I'm probably not, but my pants are now uncomfortable around the waist. It could be that (a) I'm just more sensitive to anything tightening even the least bit or (b) all this eating all the time, no matter how healthy it is, is taking its toll on Mummy's waistline or (c) I have a Monster Baby or three in there, already making room for their parties.
Don't you just love it when reviewers correct your canon? Especially if they're wrong? I know I don't. It annoys me. Although, I do understand some of it, I suppose. Someone told me in a review that my Pansy was wrong, because she has dark hair and is pug-faced = not pretty.
I do understand where she comes from, but (a) nowhere in the books does it state a hair color and I have actually not even been able to find an interview where JKR says anything about it. It's pure movie canon that she has dark hair. I decided to make her a blonde, just because I could. And (b) It's true that Harry (and I think Hermione too) calls her pug-faced, but I've actually taken that into consideration in my fic and the description I did of her as early as in seventh chapter. I do not believe that Draco Malfoy, the shallow son of an influential billionaire, would date an ugly girl. Pureblood girls aren't in THAT short supply, and it simply does not wash. Also, I think it's rare for an ugly girl to be as popular as Pansy seems to be with her own crowd. Harry and Hermione just hate her and hence insult her in any way they can.
I did have a discussion about this with someone at some point who claimed that perhaps Draco had been told by his father to date her, because she could come from an influential family, but I do not buy that. (a) There has been no evidence that Lucius or anyone in this world took any interest in who their children dated at the tender age of fourteen. Seriously, most people date several people before they settle down, Lucius would not feel threatened as long as Draco stuck to pureblood girls - which he did. (b) We never ever hear anything about the Parkinsons. They don't seem to be Death Eaters or influential in any way that would make Harry or anyone else cross paths with them or hear their names. She's just a pureblood girl.
So she's pretty. And blonde. ;P I don't care how Dramione fanon usually portrays her, I don't think that I will ever buy her not being pretty. Her hair color... well... who cares. Her roots could be showing.
I should get going on that.... grammar thing... instead.
