Today at 11:00 Maz and I are going to go watch Avengers 2D (cuz fuck 3D).
With Snuffles.
:D
We have something called "baby cinema" downtown where once a week (Wednesdays at 11:00, YOU COULDN'T HAVE GUESSED THAT) they play popular current films and you can take your infant to see it and there are soft lights, lower sounds, and facilities to take care of the kid (changing table, microwave for a bottle etc), should that be necessary. It may also be possible to get the staff to keep an eye on the kid if he's asleep in the pram, but that's not certain yet. It's a feature of some of the baby cinemas and I couldn't tell if this one was included.
But, like, YOU CAN GO OUT AND WATCH A FILM EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A BABY, LIKE, OMG!
Never tried it before actually, although we considered it once or twice with Kupo.
Anyway, I shouldn't have googled it for more information. Found threads (and even one "article") whining about *gasp* the very existence of such a phenomenon. I mean, WHO would want to watch a film in a theatre filled with wailing babies anyway? Why don't new mothers simply rent a DVD? And won't the kid be traumatised from the action scenes, shouldn't we be watching Winnie the Pooh or something?
1) NEW PARENTS WITH THEIR OWN BABIES WOULD GO, DICKWEASEL.
2) NEWBORNS ACTUALLY SLEEP A LOT, DOUCHEBAG. CHANCES ARE HE'LL NEVER EVEN KNOW WE LEFT THE BUS.
3) BECAUSE WE TOO WANT TO LEAVE THE HOUSE ONCE IN A BLUE MOON AND HAVE FUN, ASSHOLE.
4) YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOING ON TO BE TRAUMATISED, NUMBNUT. ALSO, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL NEVER GETTING TO WATCH AN ADULT FILM?
Okay, that got me annoyed.
Anyway.
I am excite.
And a little worried.
See, Avengers is going on the biggest screen they have and as per 20 minutes ago, Maz and I seem to be the only ones who've reserved tickets for this showing.
I hope they don't cancel it. That would piss me off. I could maybe live with them moving it to a smaller screen, but a full-out cancellation would make me take my business to CinemaxX instead because of the huge inconvenience that would be.
Then again, there are always a ton of people buying tickets at the last minute.
Or they might show it just for us. That would be EPIC.
Also, I kind of count on some toys (DON'T JUDGE. MY KIDS WILL NEVER HAVE ENOUGH TOYS) and a bicycle seat I ordered to arrive today. Hopefully before we have to go. I also hope for the nail varnish, but that's a bit more dubious.
Oh, AND! My first Bingo Prize fic is coming along beautifully. Definitely more than half done. Maybe even 3/4 done. It won't be too long. I promised her a 10k word fic and currently it's at 16.7k words. Ahem. Consider it interest for how long she had to wait for it. I really like my Draco characterisation in it, but I can already tell that I need to do a lot of editing around it. Also, it'll be interesting to see how many people will read that one. It has a fairly heavy H/Hr portion. And infidelity themes. Oh well. Can't all be bestsellers! :D
Once that story is done, it's just one more Prize fic standing between me and Secrets. Ooooohhh.
