Of Taxes and Strollers

Apr 21, 2009 18:35

I owe 1 DKK in taxes.

1 DKK.

That's, like, 0.15 USD or 0.1 GBP.

That's the weirdest letter I ever got. At least I think it is. Well, no, I remember that time where 3 would send me monthly reminders that I owed them nothing...

Anyhoo, I decided to NOT take advantage of the offer of saving 7% by making immediate payment. Making a money transfer is 2 DKK. They can come get their own 1 DKK.

See, this is where bureaucracy becomes ridiculous. XD

I usually do everything right and still end up owing them a lot more than this, so I guess this is improvement. I suppose it's because I had Kupo. Or maybe it just worked out. I don't know. Maz owes taxes for once, though. But that's because he suddenly a larger income by deciding to get his paternity grant on top of his normal grant instead of going on leave. No mystery there.

GO VOTE!!!

I entered a Rose/Scorpius drabble at this week's drabble contest at sortinghatdrabs and you know me -- if I'm going to lose, I want it to be by a lot of votes, so...

GO VOTE!!!

The prompt was "Astronomy Tower" and they're all (there are 13) exactly 350 words, so you know it's going to be good and not too long!

GO VOTE!!!

(In case you didn't realize yet, I really want you to go vote)

Here's a little bribe for ya:

We took Kupo out in the stroller for the first time today. He's technically a tad too young for it (he's not sitting as steadily as he's supposed to before you make him sit in a stroller or high chair) but we had him semi-reclined and it was a short trip. On the way back, I reclined him even more and turned the handle so he faced me, making it almost like having him in the pram. He liked that because he could still see much more than he was used to.

Ignore the mess! :P We have barely been outside yet since last summer and there's all kinds of cardboard boxes all over from baby stuff plus, you know, other crap. LOOK AT BABY! He has big eyes. :D Today they looked very blue. Might've been the hat. Anyway, "bwuh" face!

"Why the fuck do you keep pointing that thing at me? Also, what is this thing you put me in?" XD I love Kupo's "WTF?" faces.

Course, the Cool Baby™ face is something to behold as well! A true model, this one. His sandals are way too big. XD But then there's a chance they may fit him through the summer...

mazvn pushing Kupo about halfway to the grocery store. :D Isn't Kupo just cozy-looking?

Can't decide whether I like the stroller, though. It was a gift, but I'd have preferred to pick out my own, you know? It has some good functions and it looks like a semi-fancy model, but when it comes down to stuff like the handle or the harness and stuff like that it's obvious when you try to adjust it that it's very cheap quality. I can barely unbuckle the harness on my own because it's just such a simple cheap plastic thing and adjusting the handle every time Maz has had it is a nuisance -- on the pram it's just second nature. Also, the harness allows Kupo to slip down in a way that has to be bad on his back. Never even seen a harness doing that before.

It's also much heavier than the pram, which we very specifically got in a lightweight model so I wouldn't break my back getting it onto the bus. (and omg it's so NICE! Pushing, turning etc is a breeze!)

Someone will get offended if I end up getting rid of it, but... honestly... if I'm using something daily for three years, I need for it to be something that I can actually use. Going to give it a while and see, though. It may be all right in the end.

This is why I very specifically said we wanted money for stroller/high chair/baby carrier etc rather than just trust people to get us something that would suit our needs. :| Course, cue my family whining that nothing is ever fancy enough for me... *sighs*
