Reccing Post
Time for a bit of a SOCIAL EXPERIMENT. Also called: Reccing post.
Not sure if this will work but please play along? ;)
The deal is: Rec your favorite HP fics of all time. Any pairing. Any author. Rec me, rec yourself, rec your BFF, rec your grandma, rec that awful bitch that still writes good stories. (No, I did not just mention myself twice there...bitches. :P)
Been there, done that, right?
Here's the catch: You have to come up with something negative about the story as well as something postitive. NO flaming, though, keep it clean and informative. I will screen your posts and make a separate post with all recs, so if you DON'T keep it clean, I'll either clean it up for you or disregard your rec as being too juvenile. I'll allow harsher wordings if you rec your own stuff, because...well, you're allowed to diss yourself. But make sure it's easy for me to clean up.
Example:
Pairing: DM/HG
Title: Silencio
Rating: NC-17
Author/where to find: akashathekitty / every-bloody-where.
Very brief summary: Sixth year, Draco and Hermione get physically involved while evil is lurking. Can they overcome it?
Pros: Hawt, good character development, story draws you in, "catchy" ending, canon compatible.
Cons: plot weaknesses, unlikely premise, Americanisms, grammar, we have been waiting for the sequel forever.
(Idk, whatever, just an example, not going on the real list)
Note: "LOLOL, wrote this when I was like 15" is not a con. That falls into the realm of "we don't care". Make sure that pros and cons are specific and story relevant. It also really doesn't matter whether you like the author or not. It's the art, not the artist, we're interested in.
You will not have to face hurting anyone you really like/admire, you can comment anonymously PLUS I screen it. However, this is a reccing post, so if you mention a fic, make sure the pros are worth it. And don't write an essay, just key words describing what you like and what wasn't perfect.
If you as an author would rather not be put in this post, just comment saying that you'd rather not, and any recs for you won't show up. No judging. If you, however, rec others, be prepared to come on here yourself. If I have to, so do you!
If more people rec the same fic, I will just compile the list to make it one single rec. (it'll be funny to have a fic with the pro of being IC and the con of being OOC, though...)
Including links is sort of optional. Might want to mention the sites one can find it on, though, to make it easier for people to FIND it if they want to read it.
Why am I doing this? Idk, I'd like to see some honest and detailed recs for once where it's both good AND bad and not just one or the other. Also, I thought it'd be fun and ~*~edgy~*~.
This is for all those reading a story after hearing people praising it to high heavens, just to find out three words in that the grammar sucks and Draco is OOC (it was three very loaded words). Now we could maybe be prepared and actually enjoy the brilliance in spite of that.
This is not serious business... but maybe it can still be useful.
