DOOM!!!!! DOOM!!!!!!!!
Sigh. Blackboard is so slow. For those of you who don't know, Blackboard is this online website thing that is affliated with schools. It allows teachers and students to interact online. One of my professors decided to put all our required readings on blackboard. The only problem is, blackboard hasn't really worked all that well for the entire semester. So each week it is a huge production to get the readings I need. The good part is that I have been recently made aware of a computer lab in Pierce hall where you can print stuff for free. Goody.
I just got out of my Environmental Anthropology class. Boy, does that stuff make you paranoid. They tell you more than you want to know.
The world as we know it is about to end.
We're running out of fossil fuels. Nobody knows exactly when, but even optimistic estimates place the decline of oil production worldwide no later than 2020. What this means is that basically every year we will be able to get less and less oil from the earth. This is while our consumption of it INCREASES every year. And we are not just talking about cars. We are talking about electricity, heating, basically our whole way of life. And hydrogen energy and ethonal aren't going to do squat. Right now it takes MORE energy to make these fuels then the end product is able to give.
So basically, we're fucked. Sorry about the language, but that's what we are.
As an end result of all this stuff we discussed in class, I just dashed up four LONG flights of stairs in lieu of the elevator.
And that is my story for tonight.
