Computer issues

Internet is slow as hell. I *would* hook up the router so I know where my computer is connecting to the internet from, but the last time I tried to do that, neither mine nor my roomates computer could hook up to the internet any more. Very strange. And I just don't have the time or patience to mess with it now ( Read more... )

About that router, do you have it set up right? Every time the power goes out here, I need to go through the config panel and reconfigure the password for mine to connect right.

I have no idea. At home, all we needed to do was hook it up to the modem and the other computers, and we were good to go. I tried playing around with the settings on the control pannel, and restarted the computers and reset the modem about a dozen times. Nothing helped. And I don't THINK there is any security set up, I never needed a password before.

It varies by router, and just how the outside network is set up. For mine, the DSL modem plugs into the outside port of the router, and then I hook the computers up to the others. I set the router username and password the same as my network information, and then it maintains the internet connection, rather than the computers. If your connecting through an ethernet, then you probably don't have to do that for it, though. Routers are always a pain, they never want to play nice.
