An Extensive Task

Nov 30, 2005 04:50

At approximately 3:00pm today, I decided that, after a few years, I wanted to rearrange my living space. I worked on this for 12 hours today, only taking a break to eat dinner, a break to shower, and a break to watch Law and Order SVU (what a crazy show). Not only was I going to be rearranging my living space, but I was going to be cleaning it thoroughly and going through a lot of things in my room.
The first task was actually figuring out how I wanted to arrange the furniture in the room. There are certain spots I have had my bed in before that I didn't like because I was more prone to hearing things in the house when sleeping. I put my bed in the spot it was in because it was away from those areas, but it needed to move again as it was under a window and was a bit drafty at night and leading to me being more apt to illness. I had decided the computer would stay in the same general vacinity, but that the entertainment center would need to move A. because of the spot the bed was moving to was here and B. so that when I was at the computer I could also see the tv which wasn't really an option before.
After getting all of the furniture moved (I moved the bed, the couch, the recliner, the entertainment center, the video storage unit, and the little table I use as a nightstand) I discovered that water had come from the laundry room under my bookshelves and had dameged them very badly, so badly in fact, that when I moved it part of it broke off. Sadly, I had to throw the bookshelves out. I could have easily placed them against the wall behind the couch, but they were damaged beyond repair. This left all of my encyclopedias without a home as well as the candles that were on top of the bookshelves.
After the furniture placement was complete, I had to go through all of the piles of stuff on the floor. I had several piles of stuff from work, a pile of mail, and some magazines. As I went through the work stuff, I had a big bag that I actually fit everything into. Almost 4 years worth of memories there. =) The magazines were done in no time. Alas, the mail still awaits me.
After I was done doing my 4 loads of laundry, one load including my bedding, I got everything moved back off of the bed so that I could make it. Sadly, the couch is still covered with misc. items. I've dusted about half of the room, gotten it vacuumed, and have everything pretty much where it goes disregarding the items on the couch.
And now you will be treated to an exclusive look at what my 12 hour cleaning extravaganza had led to with a 6 picture tour of my living space. I have even made some comments on them to help point important and/or funny things out. =)
*please note that I hate wood paneling*

I feel so very productive. I can't decide if I'm going to do Christmas decorations and, if so, to what extent. I am going to hang my stocking that some kids from work made me a few years ago. It says "Eric W. #1 MENTOR" on it. It's real cute. They originally forgot the "N" in "MENTOR" so it is sort of out of place looking. I love it. =)
There's more to type but it's REALLY late, errr, early, so I'm going to bed. Nite!
