Everything happens!

Just as lots of things are happening, LJ becomes stupid for several days. =P It's fixed now, right? Right? It seems fixed... *knock on wood*

Some of you guys follow me on Facebook, so you already know what's going on, but for those of you who don't--

Thing 1: I closed on my new condo on Monday! It's mine! I spent a couple of days over there this week cleaning, and the bathrooms at least (and the space under the stove) are looking a lot less seedy. Actually the countertops in the bathrooms came a lot cleaner than I expected, and the paint on the tiles in the shower sanded off without too much trouble.

I'm also chasing down the asbestos situation. I'd resigned myself to having to have an abatement professional remove it, and then the lab said that my sample tested less than 1% asbestos. They said I'd still have to talk to the consultants, but I actually dared to hope, a little bit, that I could have it taken down cheaply by an ordinary contractor. But no. The consultant says even with that small amount, with the volume I'm having taken down, it still has to be an abatement company. SIGH. Oh well. Nobody wants lung cancer! One of the companies I got an estimate from is meeting me there Monday to put together a formal proposal. We'll see what they say. I want it done, though. People keep saying I could just not disturb it, or drywall over it, but I want it gone. No cancer ceilings in my house!

Today we took the puppy over. She seemed to have a great time running around! This could be because there was no furniture in the way of her running around, and all her favorite people were there. ^^ But I'm glad she seems to like it, since it's going to be her future second home. It was also the first time kaycee_a and S had seen it. So that was fun! It's not exactly very impressive to look at now, but it's mine, and I'm really looking forward to everything I'm going to do with it.

While we're on that subject, I never stop finding more exciting Projects I want to do, once I've got the basics (ceilings, walls, floors) finished and have moved in. I think I'm going to end up giving Rustoleum a lot of my renovation budget. ^_^ Also, the book Do It Herself may be the most useful five dollars I've ever spent.

Thing 2: On Tuesday I turned in my three SAG pay stubs to the union! They're processing them, and sometime this coming week I should get my official invitation to join. At last!! Actor LEVEL UP.

Thing 3: Did I mention here that I passed my massage therapy national exam? I didn't, did I? I passed my national exam! But that doesn't mean a whole lot, since I still have to wait for my state certification before I can apply for a job. And my state certification was delayed because they had the wrong transcript from my school and didn't tell me until I called to check in. So now they should have the correct one. Progress!

Thing 4: Comic-Con last weekend was awesome as always. Except Thursday, which (despite a super cool Torchwood: Miracle Day panel) was bogged down by Comic-Con administrative malarkey and made me and many other people very cranky. The rest of the days were packed with lots of fun, many fabulous panels, tons of impressive cosplayers (I WISH I'd had time to do my Idris costume!), very little sleep, and the joy of being among fellow geeks of all stripes. ♥ Oh Comic-Con.

massage therapy, homeownership, i'll still be a geek, the road to superstardom, getting things done
