Another stop on the long, winding road to Siem Reap. Phnom Suntuk is a hill on whose top a famous temple with even more famous Buddha statues had been built. It's also famous for a bit of floating rock (probably of volcanic origin) and and its huge colony of wild monkeys. Nine pictures under the cut:
The temple was also famous for the prerequisite of having to climb about 3,428,641 stairs in sweltering heat to get to it.
And this was the view from the top. Amazing! However, you can easily see the omnipresent layer of dust covering the country.
The temple entrance. No, I have no idea what I did to achieve that colouring effect. I do, however, love the result and wish I knew how to reciprocate the effect.
One of the 'Reclining Buddha' statues. Also, exposition failure. Too much shadow.
One of my favourite pictures of the whole visit. Cracks me up every time and reminds me why I love the matter-of-fact attitude most Cambodians display.
Japanese tourists were feeding the monkeys. I snapped a picture of one of these monkeys baring its teeth at them for more food - and kept my distance.

Afterthought #1: I'd like to make myself an appropriate 'travelling' icon, but the my very old scanner doesn't communicate with my newer computer. Argh!
Afterthought #2: Am I the only one NOT getting ElJay's e-mail notifications? What's going on here?
