The 70s is fun! \o/ And the boys were great! But damn, they were pissy today to Simon.
I hope that I can actually remember stuff, considering that the show ended around 1h ago, and then I watched the Miami Swimwear Show. :p
Michael Johns: Not as good as last week definitely. Not to say that he wasn't good, but I don't think the song brings out his strong points. The tennis bit was cute though, including that "mate" I heard during the match.
Hippie Jason: I'm gonna agree with the judges quite a bit today. Jason's really adorable, gorgeous eyes, cute intro clip, but the song wasn't amazing. I prefer last week's. Yes, leave that guitar aside for a week and dance for us! I know you can do it!
Luke: How can someone so good looking sing so bad? D: I don't like it at all, regardless of whether theatrical is a praise or not. But I want him around so that I can yeah, look at pretties. (I wonder how his acapella group sounds like...)
Robbie: I don't know what it is about him that just doesn't do it for me. I mean, he is good, he can sing and he's cute. But I don't know. I almost always forget what he did. O___O
(The local station kept showing the AI7 commercial with him singing though, and his song last week is now ringing in my head.)
Danny: Over-thinking yes yes yes. I felt kinda awkward through his performance. And you guys know I love him, so I was feeling rather worried. He was acting all cute during the interviews and everything though. Love his little princess shrug after he ended his song. <3
David Hernandez: GOSH. I KNEW HE CAN DO IT! I am so ridiculously happy that he performed so well this week and really showed his personality. That starting of the song, man, stripper power! \o/
Jason Yeager: I feel bad at all the judges criticizing him so much that he was trying not to cry, but man, it's really not a performance to be proud of. :( And like Simon said, what's up with the ending gimmick? He was better last week.
OT: Can you really pick up an instrument that easy? I have a guitar at home, but I can't really self-learn. :/ And it's not like I am music illiterate. I was in Chinese Orchestra during secondary school. *stares at guitar bag full of dust*
Chikezie: Firstly, I adore his explanation of his name. It was just too cracky. Easier yeah. XD And I totally forgot how to pronounce his name in his African tongue now. Che-ki-zieh? Now to his performance... WOW. Clever, CLEVER choice of song. Possibly best choice of song for the night. He really got a little too smart-ass though. :/ And eww, fugly top! It looks like one of those uniforms in a supermarket here. >.>
David Cook: Why isn't his cute boyfriend in the audience? *pouts* Another awesome performance from him. Sorry Simon, being a word nerd just adds on the charisma. Don't you know just how hot the word "ostentatious" is?
Baby David: I AM SO PROUD. I heard spoilers about him singing Imagine, and well, I was waiting for it the entire night to see how different it is from his childhood rendition. Thankfully, I wasn't disappointed. Especially since I really liked Blake's rendition last year. But Baby David did it his way, and he did it great. The vocals were just so near-perfect-amazing, and strong, and yay for being on pitch! *tears up like Paula (which actually cracked me up)*
I understand that Lennon meant for this song to be about the lyrics and thus kept it simple, but what I think is, if you choose to mix it around, you need to prove that you can sing it well at least. Be different, but don't ruin it. Don't go like screaming and going all diva on it. It wasn't perfect, the style David sang it, but I am fine with it. But, I totally respect you guys' opinion if you don't like it. Lennon is after all, difficult to reach. Blake vs Baby David... I may still like Blake's version though. Gotta go and listen to the audio.
I really hated the blatant pimping though. :/ It's making everyone annoyed. It was amusing when at the start, the fans were screaming and the other contestants pointed to Baby David. But then... It really got a bit urgh when Ryan repeated the same thing he did last week. -__- And Baby David suddenly reminds me so much of Daniel Radcliffe! And I DON'T LIKE Harry Potter! >.>
Check out the flood on rickey about Baby David:
http://www.rickey.org/?p=7176#more-7176 Rymon moment: My ears must be on the gay channel. When David H thanked God and said he is not referring to Simon, I heard that Ryan said Simon is.
My Top 3:
1) David Hernandez (surprised huh)
2) Baby David
3) Chikezie/David Cook (I was considering, and it would be amusing if it is only David Cook, but I need to give Chikezie props for choosing that song.)
Something that is good and bad about these 60s, 70s. 80s theme weeks, the contestants will get to more or least stick to their own genre. Like David Cook sticking to rock. It will show their personality more, allow them to sing better, though it might be a bit safe. Can't wait for country week.
