Okay, everything was going fine, I was really enjoying the Oscars (totally slept through it in the morning though I woke up and even switched on the TV), and the local station just had to do what it always does - cutting away any slight bit of gayness. ALWAYS. THEY NEVER FAIL TO DO IT.
That last bit where Scott (from the winning team of No Country for Old Men) gave his acceptance speech and thanked his partner, it was cut out during the re-run. WTF. IT'S JUST ONE FUCKING SENTENCE. I am so glad that I was actually awake during the live broadcast to see it. And this is not the first time the local station did that. Previously, in a Golden Globe/Oscars, the host had a kiss with another dude for comedy's sakes, and woot, it was cut out in the re-run. Er, can't they even take a joke? It's not even a blatant parading of gay lifestyle.
GODS RAGE. RAWRRRRR.
With that outta the way, let's go on to the good stuff. Love Jon Stewart, love the presenters, love the montages, love the winners... This is really a pretty amazing show.
*I have always liked to watch the tribute to the passed-away, and this year's really made me sad because of Heath Ledger. Sigh...
*79 Best Oscar Films: ROCKY! \o/ Driving Miss Daisy! Sound of the Music! Beautiful Mind! Titanic OMGGGG! LOTR! Etc etc. I still think Brokeback Mountain was robbed.
*Best Director/Movie: The Cohen brothers are adorable. I probably need to check out No Country for Old Men (Tommy Lee Jones! I think it says a lot when my 17-year-old sister adores him so much.), Michael Clayton, La Vie En Rose (heard about it for a long time)...
*Hail the Queen and King!
*The Juno writer (Diablo?) scares me. The combination of her tiger dress and her tattoo. :/ And you know I have no issues about tattoos. (I rather like Carly's hubbie yo.)
*I am rather amused that Enchanted didn't win the best song. But then, none of the five songs really wowed me.
*Upset that Transformers didn't win a damn thing.
*Where is James Cameron now?
*GEORGE CLOONEY IS HAWT. It also says something when my sis and I literally awwed when he appeared. We squeed louder for Depp though.
*Love Jon Stewart. His jokes really cracked me up. I especially adore the Iraq war movies one.
*Travolta is hilarious. XD
*I give off a Halle Berry feeling. Haha. Who are these two guys? I need to see them in a stand-up.
*CUBA GOODING JR! I miss you!
*I always find it amusing that they honor people who are so old. It's like they suddenly remember he exists and decides to hurry and honor him before he dies. 98. -__-
*All the foreign animation nominees seem nice. Interesting variations of artstyle.
*Did I say I love Jon Stewart?
