Just one quick post before I go to ANIMEBOSTON! :D
Yesterday's trip to Six Flags wasn't entirely miserable. (: During the awards ceremony at 5:30, I had the honor of being presented a medal for the solo vocalist award. Only one person, from each category (there were three, vocalists, band, and instrumental??), received this and I took home the vocal medal. =D To be perfectly honest, I thought my solo wasn't too great yesterday. But I guess the judges didn't notice. o_o
WELL. I was also in Follies last night, our school's talent show. I told Ms Baum, the woman running it, that I had a field trip and was not going to be back until about 45 minutes into the show, so she moved me toward the end of the show to give me PLENTY of time.

The bus pulled up, I stepped out, and headed to my car to get my change of clothes for the show. On my way back, people on tech come running out going, "AMANDA NEVES! WE NEED YOU! You are on...NOW!" O______O I was freaking out. I was sweaty and disgusting and I smelled funny after being at Six Flags for six hours. And I couldn't even change my clothes!
I'd had a grand total of...NO water on the way to school. I thought I'd have more time when I got to school, to get ready! No warming up!
Basically, I ran back stage (when I say ran, I mean it xDDD I was really sprinting down that aisle) and was pretty much pushed onto stage.
I sang And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going) from Dreamgirls. Hardest song I've ever sung in my life, which was another reason I was freaking out. It's not exactly easy to sing when you have had no water and just stepped off a bus that you were sleeping on, to perform TWO MINUTES later. But somehow I pulled it off. The applause was amazing, the most I've ever gotten in my life. I left RIGHT after I performed because I needed a cold shower really badly. Mom and Jenn both went to the performance and they came home about 5 minutes after I did. And when they walked in they were like, "Amanda. That.was.AMAZING!" Even though my voice cracked, like, a thousand times.
Although....if you think about it, a cracking voice kinda works for the style of song.
Every time I sing that song, somebody tells me, "WOW! YOU HAVE A LITTLE SOUL IN YOU, MANDA!"
Somebody meaning Crysta. (:
OKAY! OFF TO ANIMEBOSTON! *_*
