I posted this a while ago when the snarking about politics started to get on my nerves. With the rhetoric I've been seeing/hearing/reading, it seems that it could use a repeat. Last time it was entitled: "Hate me if you want to, love me if you can."
I borrowed a line from a Toby Keith song for my title on this one because I hate political seasons. I hate the judgment and vitriol I see on BOTH SIDES of every race. Here's a hint folks, where a person stands politically has no bearing on a person's intelligence and very little if anything, to do with their morality, kindness or humanity. To put it simply, it's politics, that's all!
People are amazing and the differences between them are even more so. The differences you see in a person's political viewpoint are usually brought about by their personal experiences. Individuals walk different paths which bring them to differing views. It's not because they are stupid, or ignorant, or brainwashed, or narrow-minded, or bigoted, or loony, or any other derogatory term someone can dream up to put here. As a matter of fact the only thing that I find particularly stupid is blind voting based entirely on what little letter is next to the candidate's name. I encourage everyone to do their homework and know their candidates, all of them. Don't let someone else tell you how to vote. Use your brain and decide what you think.
And next time, before you roll your eyes and call somebody a name for not believing as you do, please stop for a second and think about it. Believe it or not, the opposition isn't your enemy. They are your neighbors, your co-workers, your friends, and sometimes, even your family. You don't have to agree with them, but you don't have to hate them either.
