A little sad--Bleach Chapter 267

Mar 19, 2007 00:36

So, I'm placing the rest of what I'm about to say under the cut due to spoilers.

Have you guys read the scanlation for this chapter?  It has my favorite character skewered by a trident held by an arrancar/gillian that not only looks like Kaien, but also has Kaein's soul in it (Kaien's soul is one of thousands that he's swallowed).  Sode no Shirayuki is broken and Rukia's last words and thoughts in the chapter have something to the effect of being sorry because: a) she realized that she did not free Kaien's soul from that hollow way back and b) she can't do anything about that either as her strength has already been majorly depleted.

And of course, if you're read the chapter, you see that she was gutted through--the trident just sort of smashed through Shirayuki and went for her belly.

Argh!!!

To make matters worse, I see a lot of Rukia-haters in forums (that shall remain unnamed) practically celebrating what they perceive to be her imminent death.

Ugh!

She can't die.  And in my opinion, I don't think she will die.  My guess is, Kaien's soul will somehow rescue her the way Ichigo's mother's memory rescued him when he was fighting the Grand Fisher.  I don't think any of the others will come to her rescue just because of that whole spiel between Renji, Rukia, and Ichigo about not worrying about your fellow warriors in battle.

Anyway, on a slightly more upbeat and maybe quite reaching angle, check out this panel:

Being a Byakuruki shipper, it makes me wonder if Rukia is good at that particular kidou due to: a) her learning it to impress Byakuya or b) her learning it from Byakuya himself.

*Grins*  Can you see it?  Right after the Soul Society arc, Byakuya teaching Rukia more about kidou?  I have a sort of teacher/student scene between Byakuya and Rukia in my fic Sub Aff, but reading this panel makes me think that that scene could have happened much sooner than my story :)

Anyway, enough rambling for me.  Time for sleep.
