Disclaimer: The SKKS-verse belongs to the creators of Sungkyunkwan Scandal. The last line of this portion came from The Mighty Ducks - I tried to change it, but couldn't think of anything else.

Author's Notes: This was supposed to be tacked onto the end of the main story above, but I wound up going with the original ending.

Although a nurse had already been engaged for him, she couldn't arrive until the next day, so Hwa-sal spent his first night as a newborn snuggled between his parents. His mother and father weren't sure whether they would be able to sleep from the excitement over having him finally here, and spent the first hour or so just staring at him and each other in wonder; but the events of the day eventually caught up with them and they, too, drifted off to sleep.

As with most parents of newborns, their slumber didn't last long. Husband and wife had barely closed their eyes when the baby began to cry.

"What is it?" Ka-hai asked, her voice thick and slurred from sleep. "Is he hungry again?"

"No," her husband replied. "I think he's soiled himself."

An acrid odor, a sure sign that he was most probably right, assailed her nose. "Oh, no," she moaned weakly, struggling and failing to even lift an arm. Besides being incredibly sore, her body also felt very heavy. "His napkin needs to be changed... but I can barely move."

Even though he was half-asleep, Jae-shin realized that his wife probably shouldn't be exerting herself so soon after giving birth, and thus it fell to him to see to their son. "It's all right, just lie down," he assured her. Blinking hard and shaking his head to clear it, he struggled to his knees. "I'll take care of this."

"I love you."

He couldn't help laughing at that. "I love you, too."

"Be careful with him," his wife cautioned drowsily.

"I will."

After taking a few more moments to get himself together, Jae-shin carefully scooped up Hwa-sal and got to his feet. He tried to calm the baby, but when that proved futile, he decided not to waste any more time and headed to the washstand, where water and a stack of clean cloths awaited.

Confident that her husband had matters well in hand, Ka-hai began to drift off again, only to be startled awake by another shout - Jae-shin's.

"Young man, what did you eat?!"
