Mizuki's Notes [006]

Today we helped oversee the rebuilding efforts on Na-Nal, as well as continued to safeguard his highness as he met with the elder. The forging of stronger bonds with the leaders of the other islands is necessary if the king's plans to maintain a working confederation are to succeed. And since the king's recent history with the elder here is less than ideal...

It is... admittedly strange to be reminded of how different Obel is from Kooluk. Had the elder treated a representative of Kooluk half as badly as he did Lino En Kuldes, we would have been sent to punish him. Perhaps we wouldn't have needed to simply kill him; his son would provide an excellent target, or their relationship with the elves could have been capitalized on... a few random murders staged to look like an elven attack would have stirred up the rest to attack the elves, claiming far more lives...

...But that is not how his majesty works. In fact, he intends to let the insult pass without addressing it. Akaghi was complaining about that very fact today, muttering under his breath and glaring at the elder and Axel. Privately, however, I think he may be relieved that we are not expected to get revenge for him behind the scenes.
