May first, new uta in Japanese class. One of my long time favorite bands, L'Arc~en~Ciel, is introduced to the commoners. L'Arc has been around since 1991. After going through a few people, the band is what it is today, from left: hyde (vocals), tetsu (bass), ken (guitar), and yukihiro (drums). L'Arc~en~Ciel, which, as sensei told us, means rainbow in the sky in French, was formed by testu and hyde in Osaka. They did a lot of stuff, made a lot of songs that deserve a regular j-rocker's attention, and a lot later down the road in 2000, Neo Universe was released. They continued to top charts and whatnot, indeed, some here may have heard of L'Arc as it was the first Japanese rock band to play a major American venue (2004). Anime soundtrack contributions include Rurouni Kenshin, DNA2, and Great Teacher Onizuka (aka GTO). hyde and tetsu do/did their own things as well, hyde with his band.. hyde, and tetsu with his band.. tetsu69 (oh and btw, i think tetsu was part of Malice Mizer way back when, but I'm not sure).
