I've seen people doing this challenge for years, and always thought about joining in, but never quite got around to it. Today I saw an entry from someone on my DW Network page and followed links back to the community, where I saw a post talking about how part of its purpose is to combat winter depression...as well as giving people a reason to generate more content here on DW. The other thing I like about it is that it's so low-key: only 15 days, no deadline to join, you can skip any topics you want to and go back and do ones you've missed. There's no pressure involved, no word limit, just an excuse to write about fannish things. So here goes:
Day 1
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

Trading stories, reasons, and hope in the dark.
I love crossovers, and have written a few, but this is the one I think really works, and it was a joy to write, to find Martha's voice (and a bit of Jack's), and to put the EE characters I knew well into a completely different situation than we'd ever see on the show and figure out how they'd react and still be themselves.
And Baby Makes Three (144000 words) by

Summary:
"I don't want Addie anywhere near that trial. I want you to take her." Rachel drew in a deep breath and looked from Toni to Hobson. "Both of you. Take her and keep her safe."
This one feels so quintessentially me, because it's long and it's EE and there's a kid involved and also a couple gratuitous scenes that technically could be cut but why, when they're so much fun to play around with? It took literally years to write (and probably takes that long to read...), but when I look back on the writing process it seems like it was a whole lot of fun from start to finish. (I'm sure
serrico can vouch that isn't quite true.) Also, I've always been inordinately proud that it came out at exactly 144,000 words (a dozen grosses! 4 is my favorite number!), and when I'm tempted to make edits, I do make sure the word count stays exactly the same.

Summary:
Maddie and Julie have known each other by one hundred names.
This was the first time I wrote a book-based fic outside of Yuletide. I was trying to cheat the book's traumatic ending without actually changing it; if any two fictional people ever deserved more than one chance to come together, it's Maddie and Julie. The challenge, for me, was to sketch out each scene without wasting a lot of words, and I've always been happy with the result. This is also a rare case of me getting the title before the story even existed; I love the Neilds' song "By One Hundred Names" and had wanted to write something fannish around it for years. The Trope Bingo prompt for reincarnation fic was the perfect place to finally do so.
