So Street Fighter IV is finally out! I grew up playing SF2 - all of my friends were crazy for it, and even today, most people I know who played video games back then played their fair share of it and have already bought this newest iteration. The new one is great - familiar to old players, with some improvements of the newer games, and it looks fantastic. The online play is interesting since you can do lobbies, invitations, or just play in arcade mode against the AI and let people drop in to challenge you at random! It's all detailed in the zillions of reviews out there so I'll shut up now soon, hehe. I haven't been this excited over a video game since I discovered DJ Max Portable; I've already blistered my thumb doing special moves! :p I've beaten it as Ryu to unlock Sakura, and then as Sakura to unlock Dan. Dan sucks so bad that it makes him legendary awesome... it takes a special kind of guy to pull that off! It also takes a real man to wear a pink gi to a fight, haha...
I also picked up a couple of titles on PSN and played with them a little bit. Noby Noby Boy is by Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi and looks like a similar style. It's... completely bizarre. You're a wormlike character who walks around on four legs, and you control your front with one joystick and your rear with another. You walk around eating things, which lets you stretch your body out longer. After stretching enough, you can load up by eating different objects and then explosively fart them out... and that's about it. No time limit, no hazards, just playing with the bizarre eating, stretching, and farting... oh, and you can lose your butt sometimes if it gets torn off, then things just pop out of you when you eat them - but you can grow it back if you eat it too... O_o;
Flower is much more recognizable as... a product of this planet, but it's also pretty unique. You control the petals of a flower, steering them around a field by tilting the controller in different directions, and blowing wind to impel you by pressing a button. The goal is to visit other flowers in dead patches of grass, and after coming in contact with all of the flowers in one patch, the spot is revitalized and you get more petals in your cloud. It's a very pure, simple game. Not even a time limit or enemies. It's still pretty fun to play though. It's nice to play something where monsters or soldiers aren't trying to murder you in a thousand ways, you know? Then, most of the games I play aren't really about that anyway (music, puzzle, racing, adventure/visual novel.)
I also finally gave in and signed up for a Facebook account. If you know my name, feel free to friend me - the more the merrier! I signed up to get in touch with some old buddies from high school who I can't reach through their old abandoned email accounts. Just watch me turn into an addict now, haha... ^^;
