On Birthdays and Holidays

Nov 27, 2008 15:39

I think I usually post some sort of introspective thinky post for my birthday, but I didn't get to it yesterday and now I just don't really feel like doing it anyway. That's probably appropriate since a startlingly large part of this last year has been spent not really doing much, so not really posting much works.

I did go out with Grant and Julie last night. All plans were discarded, the night was ruled by the curlicued whimsy of fate, and it was all kinds of fun. To finish of the night we ended up seeing the very latest showing of Twilight possible. It was bad. I expected it to be bad, but it was bad in ways I didn't expect, and yet... still fun. That may have something to do with all the drinks we had before going to the cinema though.

Now the family is together and we're working on our collaborative Thanksgiving dinner, which is amusing since none of us can really cook. My brother's efforts are making me look pretty good by comparison though, so that's something to be thankful for. We're also having our own mini-tv-marathon watching all the Thanksgiving episodes of West Wing. For some reason they always pulled out the really goofy episodes for Thanksgiving. (Sam: "A small band of pilgrims sought out a place in the New World where they could worship according to their own beliefs... and solve crimes. It’d be good. By day, they churn butter and worship according to their own beliefs and by night, they solve crimes. Pilgrim detectives. With the big hats.") So there's that.

I hope you all have a good holiday too, or a good non-holiday if it's not a holiday where you are. You should eat some turkey anyway, it's good stuff.

ETA: Epic National Rickroll. This game is officially over, and Macy's won. Who would have guessed?
