My grip on reality is rather loose...

So, I just had a very strange afternoon.

If your grip on reality is rather loose, which, let's be honest mine certainly is, film festivals are not going to help that. I just went to see the world premiere of this really adorable film called Satellites and Meteorites. It's a small, independent Irish film. Obviously it's small. Any film having it's world premiere at 5 o'clock on a Thursday is not exactly screaming blockbuster. Anyway, it was a really brilliant film. The premise is that the main character, Daniel, is in a coma and everything that happens is his dreams and he meets another coma patient, Lucinda, in the dream. There are only about 6 actors and actresses in it, playing all the roles which makes sense because Daniel is dreaming about the people he knows and the people who are around him. Once he starts waking up a bit it gets a little confusing about what's real, what's a dream, etc. etc. And the phrase "everything is real" is repeated again and again throughout the film. It was a really sweet funny romantic film that kind of reminded me of Stranger Than Fiction crossed with Garden State. If you ever get the opportunity to see it, I highly recommend it.

That's not the weird part though. The weird part is that since it's part of the film festival and all, the writer/director is hanging around afterwards for a question and answer session. He turns out to be the geeky-hot guy that I ran into in the front corridor just before the film. And hanging around in the bar upstairs are all six of the actors from the film. As themselves of course, not their characters, but it's still like just another layer of reality out of the dream film. Everything is real, you know. I feel like I'm not accurately describing how deeply deeply weird this was. Maybe imagine walking out of the first screening of the Matrix and seeing Hugo Weaving lurking in the corner or something, but on a much smaller less creepy scale. Weird, but very interesting and highly enjoyable.

So after all that, I headed home to write all this down because if I don't later on I'm not sure I'll believe that it was real.

And then I got a text message from an unknown number: "Katie...i need some drinks, music and dancing...!"

Wtf? Who are you? How do you know me? What makes you think I go out dancing on Thursday nights? I mean, I'm kind of interested, but what? I replied to ask who it was but haven't' heard back yet.

I can't actually go out with mystery texter anyway, because I'm off to an outdoor screening of Stop Making Sense with Nina. Yeah, David Byrne should definitely help with the whole loose grip on reality thing, right?
