Job Search

So anyhoo, I have two interviews coming up.

One is for a 7.50/hour job at a mom-and-pop store, the other one is a sales position at a local advertising firm. I am leaning towards the latter since the firm manager used to work for the textbook division of Harcourt Brace in San Antonio, and he can hook me up with a job there after I graduate. Yeah, I spazzed when I heard that on the phone today. (In a good way, mind you.)

But...I told my dad and he bitched at me, per usual. I swear to God, anything I do is never good enough. He really wants me to get my teacher's license, even though I'm at quite a pointed salary disadvantage if I do. (My plan was to work enough money to save up to live off of, and then go get it.) Though luckily he's going to contact my rich grandma so I can pay my rent and fill my stomach.

I also had my first phone call where I had to admit I was trans. The lady who runs the mom-and-pop place is an alumna of Wells ('93, I think she said) and she noticed it on my resume, which is part of the reason I got an interview in the first place. And yeah, since she was an alumna, she knew it wasn't coed when I graduated. So yeah...deer in the headlights moment where I had to admit I was still legally female.
