The lovely thing about holidays and broken families...
Is that you're guaranteed to piss somebody off. I'm happy to have both parents alive and on good terms with me, mind you, but since they've been divorced for some nineteen years and are most decidedly not on good terms and they both live within twenty miles of me, the holidays for me means choosing who I'm going to spend time with, which means I also get to choose who I'm going to alienate.
I'd like to be able to spend a bit of time with both...but I don't think either care to compromise along those lines. Hell, if I could everybody together in one place and have them all play nicely with each other, I would be willing to go through the trouble of cooking for everybody....and I'm really not a good cook.
