Title: Coup de foudre*
Rating: G (Some kissing.)
Pairing(s): Mainly KangTeuk, though some KyuMin, YeSiHee(?) and EunHae are present.
Genre: fluff (?)
Summary: Who new late night sci-fi movies, a power outage and a glass of milk could lead to a love confession?
Word Count: 5, 247
*(Translated literally, it means “Thunder.” Figuratively, it can also mean “Love at first sight” which is exactly what “Coup de foudre” means in French (apart from the literal meaning). Hope that wasn’t too confusing >.< I thought it fit the story quite well, as you will see!)
A/N: This is, “hypothetically”, before Kangin leaves for the army. I just had to write this for no particular reason. And I don’t particularly like it. Meh.
Beware of the fluff. :p
__
After much debate about what to do with out free night, since the rain (which had now turned to full-blown storm), had closed down many roads preventing us from going to our late schedules, we came to the conclusion that the best way to make the most out of it would be to have a movie-night.
We had rapidly changed into our pyjamas and, for those who needed to, took a quick shower.
With much planning on both my part and Kyuhyun’s (along with Shindong’s suggestions), we had somehow manage to drag the flat screen TV in the bigger and larger part of the dorm where half of us proceeded to glue the present four simple beds together, swearing and sweating as we did so, forming a huge lay-on couch.
Once the TV had been nicely dumped by the wall (carried by Donghae and Siwon), along with the DVD player, Kyuhyun had set himself that task of wiring it all up again, bending in front of the screen, cables in hand.
“Anybody know where the plug is in this room?” Kyuhyun asked, holding the big black electricity cable in his hand.
Sungmin, who had finished placing the third bed, a little breathless, lifted a finger and pointed to the corner to the left of Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun sent him a smile in thanks and went to plug the wire into wall, crouching back in front of the TV after.
Sungmin replaced his hair and came over to me, asking if I needed help. I accepted it gratefully.
“Tell me again why we’re doing this?” I huffed, running a hand through my hair as the last bed was moved and bumped against the third one, giving a nod of thanks to Sungmin who had pushed the other end with me. I was getting too old to move beds around this late at night. Not to mention that I was tired.
Eunhyuk turned around from the other side of the room, handing a dirty pair of socks he had found under the bed to Donghae, and looked at me.
“Because, if we are planning to watch a movie all ten of us, the room in front isn’t large enough and some of us always have to sit on the floor.” Donghae nodded to Eunhyuk’s statement, making a face and wondering where to put the socks, and added his own comment. “Plus, there are always some of us that fall asleep and the floor is never a good place to end up on.”
“And,” Shindong added as he came into the room, throwing a few extra pillows onto the beds. “Like this, we get to be more comfortable, have more room and a place for everyone to fall asleep on, if we scrunch up together, that is.” He smiled and turned around back to Ryeowook who was waiting to throw him other pillows from the adjoining rooms.
“TV’s set up,” Kyuhyun said as he got up and dusted himself. I nodded at him and watched as he left the room, probably in search of the DVDs.
Seeing that all the beds were placed and that no one needed my help, I sighed and let myself fall on the bed. Distant scents of melting butter and popping popcorn reached my nose, drifting from the kitchen where Siwon and Yesung were, their voices reaching us softly, both of them debating on how much butter and salt should be added so that everyone would be happy.
“Jungsu, get up, I need to put some blankets on.”
I sighed again and cracked on eye open and saw Kangin giving me a smile. Before I had a chance to move, he opened up his arms, dumping half-a-tone of woollen blankets on me.
“Ah!” I half-yelled, throwing my hands up but still getting drowned in the warm and heavy material. Everyone in the room laughed.
I fought the covers and managed to poke my head out from a tiny space near the top.
“You could have waited till I had moved!” I cried but I ended up smiling. I could feel my hair sticking up in many directions, which ended up causing more laughter and making me frown.
After untangling myself, I grabbed as much of the covers as possible and tossed them back to him. “Here,” I said, my other hand fixing my hair as best as I could back to its previous condition.
I got up from the bed shakily, still slightly caught up in the blankets around my left foot, and started to make my way towards the kitchen, hoping that I could get there and make popcorn before-
“You’re not gonna help me?” Kangin asked sweetly.
-Crap.
“Um, I was actually going to go check on Yesung and Siwon to make sure that they aren’t eating all the popcorn,” I offered, giving him my one-dimpled smile.
“Oh, come on! Come help me,” he said, raising his arms and showing me the blankets. He then turned his head to the left and eyed Heechul. “Heechul, why don’t you make yourself useful instead of just sitting on the bed and picking your nails? Go check the kitchen to make sure we have some popcorn left.”
Heechul looked up.
“Please?” Kangin added for good measure.
Heechul sighed and slowly got up, making a show of how annoyed he was with the simple request, letting it leak into his facial features.
“Yah, sure thing,” he said, almost in an exasperated tone. And just because Heechul is Heechul, he had to add, “But don’t anyone take the middle bed, it’s mine.”
Kangin nodded and looked pointedly at the other members. They all nodded in turn, agreeing that the middle bed spot was reserved for him and no one else.
Satisfied, Heechul left with a warm smile, promising to salvage all the popcorn he could.
I sighed and made my way back to the bed I had been sitting on and grabbed a few blankets from Kangin’s arms, narrowing my eyes and trying to look annoyed.
“Oh, don’t give me that look. I know you don’t like making up beds, but for once, help me?”
I ignored the smile he gave me and set about to making the beds, Kangin joining me in silence. Eunhyuk and Donghae came to my aid, grabbing their share and heading to do the other beds, whispering to each other, Donghae tugging on the back of Eunhyuk’s shirt, asking him something I didn’t hear.
Shindong and Ryeowook came back after a while with more pillows which they had collected from the upper level, setting some on the floor and the majority on bed number one. They lent a hand to me, since I was having difficulties with stretching the sheet to all the corners of the bed.
“Getting old?” Shindong laughed, giving me a tiny slap on the back.
“Maybe,” I answered back, not really joking, but still turning the sides of my lips upwards.
“Oh, Teukie, you’re not that old!” Ryeowook said, frowning and sending Shindong a look that clearly meant that he had not found that very funny.
Kangin, Donghae and Eunhyuk laughed without reserve.
“I’m ‘not that old’?” I said, laughing too, repeating Ryeowook’s words. “Thanks anyway, Wookie.” I turned around and hit the still laughing Kangin. He just snorted and hit me back, harder then I had, making me stumble sideways. I caught myself on his arm and stuck out my tongue at him.
He repeated the action.
“That’s not what I meant!” Ryeowook cried his eyes wide and I could already feel the apologies coming. “It’s just-”
I raised a hand before he could continue, walking over to him, and extended that hand to his shoulder.
“S’okay, Wookie. I know you didn’t mean wrong, but it’s still half-true.” I gave him a quick hug. “I’m okay. Really.”
Ryeowook smiled up at me and nodded.
“I still think you look like the same Jungsu from years ago,” Kangin added from behind me.
I turned around, letting go of Ryeowook, and snorted at him. “Then you must be blind.”
“Popcorn is ready!” Yesung yelled happily, stopping Kangin from saying whatever retort he had planned to. Yesung bounced into the room, followed by a smiling Siwon and a straight-faced Heechul. He held two huge popcorn bowls, both filled to the brim. The way he almost ran around towards the beds made me fear for the fluffy, crunchy yellow goodness and I immediately took the bowls from his hands as he flew past me, handing one to Kangin.
Kyuhyun came back in at the moment, his arms containing about five DVDs and stood beside Sungmin, showing him the DVDs he had brought, the two them whispering about what we could watch tonight.
Spontaneously, Yesung launched himself carelessly toward the beds, arms outstretched. He landed with an “Oumph” and soon, Ryeowook, Shindong, Donghae and Eunhyuk joined him onto the beds, practically jumping on each other and ending up in a mass of giggling limbs lost in a see of pillows and covers. We all laughed.
I shook my head and was about to call for order, but I never got the chance to. Before I could even get a word out of my mouth, I felt my feet leave the ground, my body being turned sideways and propelled forward towards the fourth bed.
I screamed, high and loud, as my body left Kangin’s hands, scrunching my eyes tight. I flew, weightless, for a few precious seconds.
The covers broke my fall and I flopped on them like a rag-doll on them, practically screaming with laughter, giddy and felling light-headed. I came to a rest, staring at the ceiling, the biggest grin ever plastered onto my face.
I was about to down-talk Kangin (who had come to bend over my face, poking his tongue out at me), on how dangerous that could have been, when another screech tore itself through the room.
My head shot up and I saw Heechul, wide eyed, his mouth open in now silent horror, being lifted into Siwon’s arms.
I couldn’t stop the laugh that left my lips.
I watched as Siwon braved the flailing arms and nails, taking example from Kangin (which was never a good idea), easily carrying Heechul over to the furthest bed and throwing him onto it, higher then I had been thrown.
With my eyes wide, I saw Heechul’s mouth opened yet again in a yell as Siwon pushed Heechul’s body up into the air and let him fall.
Heechul flew in a graceful mass of screeching limbs, only to land half a second later on the mass of pillows that had been left there by Shindong earlier, sinking into them. The only thing visible was a pair of pink-and-flowery-clad pyjama bottoms and two socked feet.
The room erupted in peels of laughter, most members falling to their knees, clutching their stomachs.
Heechul sat up and continued to yell, throwing random pillows at the tall man, adding insults of all kinds to each throw, while we doubled over in laughter.
Cheeks flushed from the fall and embarrassment, Heechul got up from the bed after throwing all 20-some pillows and stormed out of the room.
“Oh, Heechul! Come back!” Siwon called after him between bouts of laughter. “I’m sorry!” He called louder, still bent over, his face spilt by a huge smile.
“No!” Heechul yelled from the kitchen. The sound of the fridge being opened roughly could be heard.
“I just couldn’t pass that opportunity!” Siwon added, trying to stop laughing.
Kyuhyun reached over to him and gave him a high five, his eyes shining with tears from the excessive laughing.
“That was brilliant!” He cried out. Sungmin hit Kyuhyun with the back of his hand but laughed anyway.
I sat back up, shaking my head.
“Get back here, Heechul,” Kangin chuckled, high-fiving Siwon too. “We’re about to start the movie.”
“No!” He yelled again.
Kangin rolled his eyes.
“Stop being such a princess!” Kangin yelled back.
“I’ll be a princess if I want,” Heechul countered back, suddenly reappearing with two 2L of pop and plastic cups. “Here, you ass,” he hissed at Siwon, smacking the bottles and cups into his chest and climbing on the bed.
Siwon caught them by reflex, laughing, and thanked Heechul for getting the pop and cups still smiling
Heechul just scowled and twirled his right hand, sitting himself on the middle bed, while collecting a pale blue blanket from the floor. He rearranged the blanket around himself, shoving Yesung’s foot away from him. “Are we gonna start this movie or not?” He practically growled, bringing the blue material up to his nose and ignoring the still remaining smiles from the members.
“Yes, we should start it now before it’s too late,” I said, drawing the attention from Heechul to myself. “Kyuhyun?” I asked, lifting my chin upwards towards the pile of DVDs.
“Hm? Oh, yah. Um, I got a pirated version of an American movie if you want to watch that. It doesn’t have subtitles though. Apart from that,” he added, walking over to bed where Heechul was curled up on and dumped the DVDs there. “There’s some old classics and such. Pick which ever you want.”
We looked at each other for a few moments and then movie names were thrown around, DVDs passed from member to member, chaos soon ensuing.
“Guys!” I called out. I was ignored.
After a few moments, Kangin called it out louder and everyone became quiet.
“Give me back the DVDs and we’ll make a vote and pick the most popular one, Ok?”
They all nodded to my logical solution and handed back the DVDs in a neat pile onto the bed where I sat on.
I quickly scanned the pile as Kangin came to sit behind me, peeking over my shoulder at the DVDs in front of me.
I looked around at him and asked for my own personal space, please. He just ignored my polite demand and wrapped his arms around my front.
“Doesn’t anyone here take me seriously?” I asked as I sighed, knowing the answer already.
“Nope,” Kangin answered for all the members. “But we still love you just like that.”
He punctuated his sentence with a tiny kiss to my cheek.
I rolled my eyes. “Ok! So, who wants this one?” I brought up the first one on the pile and showed it to everyone.
Sungmin, to my right, made a face and then shook his head. Kyuhyun, to his right, shrugged.
“Is that a yes or a no?” I inquired.
“Oh, I don’t care which movie we watch,” Kyuhyun answered and then added with another shrug, “I’ll fall asleep half-way through it anyway.”
I laughed and turned to the others.
Yesung, draped over Siwon’s back, gave thumbs up and Siwon agreed with him. Eunhyuk and Donghae shook their heads, along with Ryeowook and Shindong. Heechul disagreed quickly and Kangin agreed with him.
“Ok, this one has two votes and a half.” I put it aside and picked up the second one, an American movie which had the word “Star” in the begining.
Shindong, Sungmin, Kangin, Siwon and Heechul agreed to that one.
“Five votes.” I grabbed another one and eyed it. “Seriously?”
Kyuhyun nodded. “Why not?”
“What is it?” Heechul asked.
“A documentary,” Kangin answered for me. “About…” He tried to read the title. “Something.”
Heechul laughed and everyone declined that one.
I tossed it aside and pick the last two up.
“We’ve seen that one about a thousand times,” Donghae whinned, pointing to my left hand.
“I agree,” I said, placing that one with the documentary. “And who votes for this one?”
Ryeowook raised his hand and so did Sungmin.
“Anyone else…? Only two, Ok.” I sent an apologetic glance at the two of them and picked up the American movie that had received five votes. “Ok, so the winner is, uh, Star…” I started and stopped at the second word.
“Trek.” Siwon added, smiling.
“Oh, Star Trek,” I repeated again for good measure, deforming the word a little.
The members agreed to the final choice and I got up to put the DVD into the machine.
I leaned down before it and pressed on “Open.” Nothing happened.
“Kyuhyun,” I said, an expression of confusion crossing my features, “The DVD machine isn’t working.”
“Did you turn it on?” Kyuhyun asked innocently, peering around Sungmin’s back.
I peered at the side of the machine where a little green light was supposed to be seen and saw that there wasn’t one.
I cleared my throat, my failure at noticing such a thing making the members laugh. I quickly opened the machine, popped the DVD in and crawled back under the covers by Kangin.
“Get the lights,” Donghae whispered as the pirated DVD immediately went to the menu screen, the other members scrambling to get into comfortable resting positions before it started.
Kangin got up and swiftly shut off the lights before joining my back on the bed, pulling half the blanket over himself. I tugged the other half back, smiling mischievously and we settled the dispute by moving closer.
Siwon get beside Heechul and left a spot to his left for Yesung to squeeze into. Sungmin and Kyuhyun took the furthest bed. Kyuhyun spread his legs, letting Sungmin sit in between them and lean on his chest, throwing a blanket over him. Eunhyuk and Donghae sat beside me, Eunhyuk with his back against the wall, while Donghae sat in front of him.
I ended up moving to sit in front of Kangin, making space for Shindong and Ryeowook, who scrunched up together. Kangin then proceeded to grab my shoulders and drag me back against him.
I let myself fall into him and wriggled down a bit to be more comfortable, pulling the blanket closer to me. Kangin slipped his hands around my waist as I grabbed a bowl of popcorn from where they were at the end of my bed.
Kyuhyun and Sungmin grabbed the other one.
With a final question as to if everyone was settled and ok, and receiving only positive answers, I nodded to Kyuhyun to press “Play” on the menu.
Soon, the first few images began and we all settled back, ready for a good 3 hours of nothing but enjoyment.
__
Three quarters into the movie, the entire room went black, the screen going dead.
I panicked and grab Kangin’s hands, waking him up with a start.
“What, what?” He mumbled his hands tightening around mine, his eyes drifting back shut.
Yesung was still awake, talking to Siwon and playing with his fingers, while Heechul snored delicately on Siwon’s arm, which he had lent a few minutes before. They both made a sound of surprise at suddenly becoming blind, waking up Heechul, who proceeded to nag and demand why it was so dark.
Sungmin was still off in dreamland, his mouth open, with a look of peace of his face, undisturbed by the sudden loss of power.
“I guess the storm cut-”
His answer was swallowed up by a huge amount of light followed by the sound of thunder that shook the apartment, making me wince and want to cover my ears.
Anyone that had been asleep was now wide awake.
I turned around to look at Kangin, my heart rate kicking it up a notch for no particular reason.
“Kangin?” I whispered.
“Yah, I’m awake.” He wrapped his arms tighter around me and put his head against mine.
“So much for the movie,” Yesung said, clearing his throat at the end, blindly dusting off popcorn from his lap. “And it was getting good too.”
Light appeared from my left and I looked to find Kyuhyun with his cell phone screen glowing brightly, giving his face a phantom-like appearance.
Heechul pulled his out too, opening it up.
“Everyone Ok?” I asked, sitting up and taking a look around.
Apart from Ryeowook, who seemed to have had the greatest scare, the other members only showed mild discomfort and tired expressions.
“Um, I guess this means we’ll be having an early night after all,” Siwon said. Then he peeked at Heechul’s phone. “It’s only one thirty on the morning.”
I nodded, and then voiced my agreement, since no one could really see me.
The popcorn bowls and pop bottles were put on the floor and blankets spread out in a more comfortable fashion as none of us wanted to go sleep in out individual room. We had opted to say here together for the rest of the night.
The wind blew strong and loud outside the walls, seeming ten times louder inside the almost deathly quite room.
I let Kangin move from under me and I then spooned against him, the other members soon following suit.
We silently huddled together from both the sudden cold and the need for physical comfort.
“Good night,” I called out softly.
“Good night,” Kangin, Shindong, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Sungmin, Yesung and Siwon whispered back. I could tell by the silence that Heechul, Donghae and Eunhyuk had gone back to sleep.
I laid there for a long time, listening to the wind and the rain, Kangin’s soft snores mingling with those sounds.
The sounds of breathing from the other members reached my ears, and I was glad that they had all found sleep.
Unfortunately, it evaded me.
I lay there, not making a sound until the incapability to fall asleep slowly started to drive me crazy.
I untangled myself as softly and gently as possible from Kangin’s hold, putting the blanket back on him when I got up.
I stood up and stretched, lightning illuminating the room for a moment.
I caught a tiny glimpse of them all in the half-second of light, lying side by side.
Kyuhyun had his limp arms around Sungmin and the latter held Kyuhyun’s left hand in his own. Next to them, Eunhyuk had moulded himself into Donghae’s body, Donghae’s arms wrapped in a strong grip around him. Siwon had lent both of his arms to Yesung and Heechul, who both were turned towards him, each with one arm onto his stomach. Siwon, slept, oblivious to it all. Shindong had his back turned to Ryeowook, while Wookie clung to the back of his pyjama, frowning in his sleep. The last one was Kangin.
Having more place now that I had left, he laid on his back, mouth open and snoring loudly, with one arm and one leg hanging of the side of the bed, half the cover following his dangling limbs. His face was calm, his body completely relaxed, making him look completely different from when he was awake.
I laughed silently at the scene and at myself, finding it way cuter then I should have.
I covered my face with my hands, the warming of my cheeks not normal at all and ran in a tip-toe manner out of the room just as the thunder exploded in the sky, my entire body unconsciously seizing up at the aggressive sound.
I made my way to the kitchen frowning and poured myself a cold glass of milk, resting against the fridge, trying to calm my mind.
The storm ragged on, my own inner battle doing the same.
I took another sip from my glass, trying to control my thoughts and not let them run wild.
Ok, so I liked Kangin.
Reasons?
We were really really good friends and we got along wonderfully. Kangin helped me in my duty as a leader and I kept him on track. We helped each other out, like two best friends would. We also goofed around, making jokes, shoving each other around and playing the fan-service card anytime we found it appropriate. And I couldn’t deny that it wasn’t fun, but sometimes it seemed more then that.
Recently, I had a hard time drawing the line between the fan-service and actual conscious touches of affection.
I took another sip of milk.
If I took in facts and made a list of them, it would look something like this:
Kisses had become a regular thing, even if it only was small ones on the cheek.
Then there was the hand holding. It extended from being just on set or in concerts to following us into the car, to coming into the dorm and any other time our hands weren’t full.
But the most disturbing change on both our parts was the sudden awkward silence that started to settle between us whenever we happened to be alone. No amount of small talk and jokes could come to solve the issue. This meant that it usually resulted in us promptly leaving the room and/or joining other members. It was strange and I refused to attribute it to the only thought running around my head, leaving no time for rest: That I might be in love with him.
I shook my head. Not only was it frowned upon and practically forbidden by society, but every time I thought about that the fact that I might… love him, I got defensive and angry. I was not in love with another man. I was not in love with Kangin. I couldn’t be.
It made no sense.
I took a bigger gulp of milk.
“Jungsu?”
Milk threatened to come out my nose at his intrusion and I chocked it back down, ending up coughing and spluttering, slamming the glass back down onto the counter.
“Jesus!” I gasped, my heart clenching at the sight of Kangin’s sleepy face standing a few feet away from me, choking and gasping for air.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you like that.” He rushed forward, wakefulness seeping into his features as he handed me a scot-towel from the island in the center of the kitchen.
I nodded my thanks and couched into it.
His hand rubbed circles onto my back, soft and soothing. I slowly came back to my normal breathing and thanked him again in a horse voice.
“You must have been pretty lost in thought not to hear me…What were you thinking about?” He questioned, emptying my milk into the sink and replacing it with water from the tap.
I cleared my throat. “Stuff,” I answered vaguely. “Why are you awake?” I asked, curiosity getting the best of me.
He snorted. “You think I’ll answer your questions when you don’t answer mine?”
I sighed. “I was thinking about you. There, I said it.”
He smiled and tilted my face up to his. “So was I.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“A clap of thunder woke me up and I realized you weren’t there. I saw that the door was open and came to see if you were okay. Are you?” He removed his hand and I sighed at the loss of his touch.
I moved my head up and down, taking the glass from him and downing half its content, the icy water healing my throat and clearing my mind.
“We should get back to bed.” Kangin nodded and took the glass form me, replacing it with his hand. I sighed again, this time in happiness.
I watched as he put it in the sink and asked, his voice low and sounding almost shy, “So, you were thinking about me? Good thoughts or bad thoughts?”
I couldn’t help but smile at Kangin’s question, wondering why he would ever consider me having bad thoughts about him.
“Good things,” I whispered back. “Only good things.”
He grinned back, his eyes sparkling and his voice deep. “You know I love you right?”
I laughed and my grip tightened around his hand. “Yes, I do… And I love you to, Youngwoon.”
There was a silent that spread between both of us, but it wasn’t an awkward one. In fact, the silence was soft, beautiful and filled with the now gentle pitter-patter of rain on the windows. It was perfect and I wanted the moment to last forever.
I looked into his eyes and watched as the world shrunk to nothing but the both of us, standing in the dark dorm kitchen, hand in hand, delicate smiles across our lips.
And then I said it.
“I really do love you.”
It came out on its own accord, my face betraying me, clearly expressing the shock I felt and sudden fear and embarrassment.
I looked down quickly and tried to move away.
Two hands, holding my own, stopped me from going anywhere.
I waited for the laugh or the words that told me that it was nothing but skin ship to him, an act and that the love he had for me was what it should have been: Brotherly love.
I never heard any of that. I never even heard a word. All there were were his eyes, shinning in the darkness, and his hands, on each side of my face, gently bringing it up to his.
I closed my eyes, knowing what was to come and feeling my heart pain at the thought.
His lips were all that I had hoped for.
Like velvet against mine, too soft to believe that they were true, both in feeling and in action, they were warm like his hands, and it made my mind spin. His fingers curled tighter around my own and after a few seconds, he pulled away.
I opened my eyes and saw the uncertainty in his. To erase that fear, that hesitation, that indecision that I saw in them, I leaned up, and without any second thoughts, I kissed him again, just as slowly as he had.
His arms came to encircle my body, gently pulling me into him, like a moon to its planet. I let my body be moved, taking a step forward and reaching my own arms around his neck.
A moment that should have lasted for ever, ended all too early.
“We should go to bed,” Kangin breathed into my ear, pulling away.
“How do you want me to sleep after this?” I breathed back, kissing his ear.
“Hm.” was the only response I received, as he sighed into my hair.
“Carry me?” I asked, braving my fear.
His eyes crinkled at the edges as he smiled and picked me up into his arms.
“You know, I wasn’t lying about what I said earlier. About you not changing. You’re still the same Jungsu that I new back then. Minus the ugly haircut, that is.”
I laughed and decided that smacking him was out of the question as punishment, so I kissed his forehead instead. “Come on, I’m tired. Take me back to bed.”
“With pleasure, your Highness,” he asserted, moving towards the room.
He deposited me with care onto the bed and slipped in back of me, draping one arm around my waist, doing the same with our blanket, trying not to wake anyone up.
“Can my Angel sleep now?” he blew into my hair, sleep making his voice droop and become lower.
“Yes, big Teddy Bear, I can, thanks to you.”
He smiled into my hair. “Good night, then.”
I took his hand into mine and kissed his fingers. “Yes,” I spoke, my voice barely above a whisper. “Good night.”
I fell asleep with ease, the warmth of Kangin’s body spreading into mine, my mind and soul lost somewhere in Heaven.
The last thought I had was the wish that I could have stayed there forever, never to leave, never to worry.
Never to feel lonely again.
